Questions & Answers

Q: Are there shooting benches at pickle butte? There at none at George's range

A: They are one and the same, the George Nourse Range is at Pickle Butte. Check out the pictures, you will see what i mean. The shooting benches were pulled down range and shot to bits, they werent replaced. There are a few metal tables/stands and occasionally a few wooden ones that people make and leave there. Unfortunately, it doesnt take long for the idiots to wreck what they can.

Q: Do they keep the range closed all day for cleaning?

A: Depends who is there and how deep a clean, i've seen them finish at 4-5 before, so you may be able to squeeze a few hours in there.

A: If they are cleaning it would take all day, so probably. That being said I didn't know they cleaned it at all.

I shoot here 1-2× weekly. For an open, free public range it is a good choice.

I pulled in and wasn't sure where to shoot at I scotched in by this other party and we got set up. I started trying to throw some skeet with my new skeet thrower and I couldn't figure it out. Some nice man from the next party over tried to help us figure it out after a few tries and not being able to figure it out he let us borrow his and taught tips and tricks to throw our skeet. After a while I became almost a pro. Everyone there was nice and understanding taking from their own shooting time to help me out.

People are generally not safe. Super windy. But...it is free.

Ranges are nicely layed out. I do wish there are some longer ranges for larger rifles to sight in. Seems everytime I go it's extremely busy and your sharing a lane with 1 or more people, which I don't mind most times. Be careful because there is a lady that collects brass and she's is NOT aware of safety and will collect brass around and infront of you while you're trying to shoot. Today she managed to get hit by some flying shotgun cases cause she was crawling around out of sight by my truck.

Always busy. If you get there early, you can get the longer range.

People shoot themselves all the time there. It's great that you have a gun, but please for the sake of yourself (if not for the families that bring their kids) learn how to handle firearms properly with an instructor before putting the rest of us.

Enjoyed the time, but was very disappointed at how many previous users had left broken glas and other debris behind...😠

Stopped here passing thru on a road trip to let my son get some time in. Mid march. Mid week. Mid day. Not busy. A lady was there raking and collecting brass. Pretty well kept.
