Proactive is a perfect place to learn defense shooting. They have very good classes with excellent instructors. I started with the Elite membership immediately. I have been at Proactive for 5 months now, and I am very happy. The best part is I have improved in every aspect of my skills. From safety to learning how to set up my EDC and duty belt. Great people and expert experience instructors!

IΓÇÖve been shooting with Chris and the the Proactive Defense staff for over 12 years. I was looking at the holiday schedule and just realized I should post a review. My wife, two daughters, and son in law also learned to shoot a full size 1911 out there and further honed their skills. One thing is to pick up a firearm and shoot but the opportunity to draw from concealed and fire multiple shots takes it to a new level. I took my first three pistol classes there and over the years IΓÇÖve been lucky to also train with many highly recognized schools. Proactive DefenseΓÇÖs classes are first rate and helped cement many skills that I still use today. If you see me out there say hello.

I have been going to Proactive Defense since they started. Chris has been wonderful! I have dealt with many instructors there and all have been great. I took some time off going to the range, however I went there a few months ago with my family. I love how the ranges are set up. You have several different ones. Because of them I am very confident in my skills. In the past I had wanted to do 3 gun competition and Chris was very nice and said I could work on that. Unfortunately life got too busy, so I have not been able to do that dream yet. I highly recommend this range.

Amanda, I stumbled upon you review of this vile establishment when I was looking to see if Quail Creek was still in operation. I am appalled and outraged to see how deep are the tentacles of the TX Taliban. The patriarchy is out of control! Thank you for your service.

Owner apparently thinks firearms and firearms training is for men only. DonΓÇÖt patronize this business unless you agree with ΓÇ£itΓÇÖs a manΓÇÖs worldΓÇ¥ comment. If the owner was open minded he would realize women and men need training and his business needs support from both of them. Chris (the owner) the year is 2022 (2023 soon) these type of comments shows what kind of an unprofessional small minded person you are and what type of business you are running. IΓÇÖll take my business else where!

When you turn away wives of Service men you turn your back on the service members who are deployed so you can keep your freedoms here. You are treading into deep waters, better grab a paddle.

I scheduled and purchased a beginner pistol class without issue. When I called back to inquire about memberships, I was asked about my background, goals, and motivation for joining. I explained that I had recently purchased a new firearm that I wanted to become proficient with and learn tactical skills in order to eventually compete. I also explained that I was already very competent with firearms, needed practice drawing from a holster, and that my husband was deployed at the time. The response I got was ΓÇ£well thatΓÇÖs not going to work.ΓÇ¥ The person I spoke to over the phone told me that if I had someone to shoot with, I could get a membership, but I wouldnΓÇÖt be permitted to get a membership because I would be going to the range by myself. I asked for clarification, thinking I definitely misheard, and he repeated that single women, unaccompanied women, are not allowed on the range. I told him I currently serve in the military, and he told me, verbatim, ΓÇ£itΓÇÖs a manΓÇÖs world.ΓÇ¥ We ended the conversation, my being grateful for his honesty because I thought he was an employee that knew something about this establishment that I didnΓÇÖt. I went to the class and explained what I was told over the phone to the instructor, who insisted I tell Chris, who would ΓÇ£never stand for that.ΓÇ¥ Well, I told Chris. And little did I know, it was Chris I was speaking to on the phone as well. During this in-person conversation, Chris repeated the same things to me as he did on the phone, including ΓÇ£itΓÇÖs a manΓÇÖs world.ΓÇ¥ I completed the class, which was fantastic and the instructor was awesome, but I will never recommend Proactive Defense to anyone, nor will they ever get any more of my money. In this day and age, to have someone refuse to sell me a membership solely because I am a woman, is preposterous.

This is the best kept secret range in DFW. It is hard to find, but it is well worth it. How you get there is to follow all the signs to Quail Creek Gun Range. This range is actually above Quail Creek. When you get into the parking lot, look to the left, you will see some small buildings. There is a large metal cattle gate with Proactive Defense Gun Range signs. Find a parking spot and walk up the gravel drive to the top of the hill. They are open to the public and have some great defensive training programs.

Chris and the instructors are great. If you carry, you are OBLIGATED to train properly and often. You canΓÇÖt learn and practice safe and effective technique in typical shooting range only. Proactive Defense is the best training IΓÇÖve been a part of.

Awesome gun range. I love the fact that they give you freedom and arenΓÇÖt hovering behind your back all the time. The staff was super friendly. Will definitely return and probably become a member!

My husband and I have taken Level 1 & 2 classes as well as a personal training class. I was very nervous and still learning how to operate my gun. They were patient and informative, allowing me to run drills at my pace until I felt more comfortable and confident. I have enjoyed working with multiple different trainers!

Great place for tactical training for pistol and/or rifle or for training you just can't do or get at an indoor range. Their classes are excellent. I always use Brad Tuttle as my instructor. He's an awesome instructor and teacher. Highly recommended this place 👍

Best range in Texas hands down. Worth every penny of the $60 a month membership. Employees are awesome and friendly and knowledgeable. They actually trust you with your weapons unlike the Nazi facility next door. I've taken family and friends shooting here and everyone loved it. It's great to have a place where you can move around and practice handling and using your weapons (especially rifle/carbines). Sitting on a bench and slow firing 100 yards away is NOT training. That's zeroing. I'll never leave Proactive. Best Sunday for me is a morning at Proactive!

I was not locking eyes with one of the Range officers during conversation. He asked me, " is there anything sketchy going on?"... I used to love the place, but now I'll drive elsewhere

This is a great place to learn real gun skills for real world events. Shooting at a range is great, but will you know what to do or how to act if you are put in a dangerous situation. You will learn here.

Very friendly instructors. Gunny is just an awesome guy. He took my scared-to-death wife and made her into a shooter with confidence! Thanks Gunny. Don't hesitate to take some lessons and support our First Amendment!

I shoot out here quite often, enough to become a member. I have seen and met some very good shooters who will take time to help new shooters, experienced shooters, and everything in between. They offer all sorts of classes by some very good instructors. I highly recommend Proactive Defense.
