Years ago, I gave one star. I canΓÇÖt get google to remove that review or allow me to edit it. Under the new managment, the PCGC is once again an outstanding facility in every way. Top notch managment, staff, safety, and facilities. Absolutely recommend.

Absolutely enjoy shooting here, it's a private club with electric gated access, 3 dedicated close range pistol/ rifle ranges, a 100 yard range, a 400 yard range, a dedicated pistol range, and a cowboy action range. The best part? It ain't a cold range like some of the other outdoor clubs.

I used to be a member of the smallbore rifle team years ago and I can say it's a phenomenal program for kids and can lead to many scholarship opportunities. Over the years since I was on the rifle team and once I became a member of the gun club itself, the range had improved year after year and especially so in the last few years. Many more ranges, many more options for shooting, very well maintained, and there are a lot of different shooting disciplines available. With the current leadership, this range had been vastly improving and I can highly recommend joining to anyone that is interested in shooting, wants a nice and safe place to shoot, and for those that want to help further shooting sports.

Lots of changes in the last couple of years. Great place to shoot. The guys running now have safety as the number one priority, but next is convenience for the membership. Even law enforcement and military use it for training and qualifications.

I have been a member of PCGC for several years. The ranges and firing points are very nice and well maintained. Often during weekdays you are pretty much by yourself. My sons and I love to take my SBRs and or suppressed firearms out and put holes through paper. Vehicular access to the property is controlled by a single bar gate with a combo lock. Non members can easily walk around the gate and walk to any of the ranges, which they often do. In WV we have already had a recreational shooter murdered on a range by two AWOL servicemen who wanted his rifle. In spite of this, "club officers" have misinterpreted NRA competition range rules regarding not loading until at the firing line to prohibit open or concealed carry, permit or not, by anyone other than law enforcement officers. This in a state that just passed constitutional carry within WV! In essence they have declared the ranges and property at PCGC as gun free zones, Just like Target and Starbucks!! I found this out when I received a"ticket" from one of the club officers when my two sons and I were on the rifle range alone (until he showed up to check if we were allowed to be there) and he asked if I was law enforcement when he saw my Sig P229 SAS in a holster on my hip. Don't believe that's possible? Read their rules on their website. I do not patronize ANY business that does not respect my second amendment rights and Putnam County Gun Club is no different. I have no problem driving a couple of hours to a range where I feel comfortable and safe shooting. I did not, nor will I, renew my membership at PCGC.

I will not be returning to this range. Recent rule changes were made, even after active members unanimously voiced opposition to any changes. Specifically, the new club president decided to "clarify" rules based solely on his own interpretation of already effective and established NRA rules. The club has repeatedly shown it is only interested in its high power range and its cowboy shooting range. If you want to shoot anything else, save your money and look elsewhere. There are other range options in the area that have a significantly longer distance rifle range, overall better facilities, and now have a significantly greater one growing membership base.
