Questions & Answers

Q: What is the cost per person?

A: The fees are determined by your active duty/retiree grade or civilian status. E1 - E4s are free and there is a sliding scale with the most expensive membership currently at $150 annually for senior military/retirees and civilians. We think that a considerable value for the nine ranges we operate, which includes the ability to shoot at 1,035 yards.

Q: I am a disabled Veteran who was military police, SRT, Military working dog handler, also SET sniper, and SRT trainer. What are the stipulations on me and my son joining the club? Also how much are the dues? Thank you for your time.

A: Mr. Bobbitt: Thank you for your interest in the Quantico Shooting Club! In answer to your questions: 1. If you are active duty, reserve, or retired military (or active or retired DOD) there is a sliding scale for yearly REGULAR membership dues based on your current or last pay scale (E5 or WO2, GS9, etc.). If you do not meet the above criteria, you are an ASSOCIATE member and the dues are $150.00 per year. 2. If you become a volunteer Range Safety Officer (you must complete a certification process with us) for the club and participate in the opening or 6 ranges in a years time frame, your next year's membership dues are free. 3. If your son is still your dependent, and you are considered a REGULAR member (see above criteria), your son can be added to your membership at no additional cost. If he is no longer your dependent, he would have to obtain his own membership based on the criteria above. Or your son can come as your guest with a waiver and a daily $10 fee.

Q: Can a retiree spouse use the range? Can you use the range without joining?

A: Thank you for your interest in the Quantico Shooting Club. The QSC is a member only club per our agreements with Marine Corps. You must join and sign liability waivers in order to become a member and utilize the ranges. Your spouse can shoot with you as a guest or, if eligible (based on military or DoD affiliation), as a part of your family membership. Please find additional information on our website at https://quanticoshootingclub.com/membership. R/ QSC Staff

Q: I have to connection with military and moved to the area. I have plenty of ex-military and retired law enforcement in my family. How am I able to join or do you offer family plans.

A: We would have to verify your eligibility at the time of application to offer the correct answer. However, we follow Marine Corps rules for memberships that allow active duty and retirees to have a family membership. Civilians can also join, but they do not have a family membership option, instead, they simply bring their family as a "guest." We have more detailed information on our website at quanticoshootingclub.com.

Q: I see veterans are grouped as civilians, but I have a dd form 2765. Does that change my classification to retiree?

A: The DD Form 2765 replaced the DD Form 2A (retiree ID card) last year while adding additional "categories" of recipients, to includes retirees. To determine if you qualify as a retiree, and thus meet the requirements of our operating agreements with the Department of the Navy / USMC, we would need to see your DD Form 2765. We check IDs during the application process either in-person, or through email with a scan of your qualifying ID (which we shred after a determination) Feel free to contacts us direct at staff at (@) quanticoshootingclub.com so we can assist in private.

Q: Would veterans be grouped in retiree or civilian? Because there is a difference between vet and retiree.

A: Thank you for your question. Veterans are considered to be "civilians" under the operating agreements we utilize as a non-federal entity on Marine Corps Base Quantico.

Q: How can you join as a beginner

A: Yes. We have Range Safety Officers who can mentor you on range and shooting protocols. However, we do not offer formal training due to liability concerns.

- J M (4 years ago)

Q: Can a civilian such as myself with no military connection join the club? After filing all the proper paperwork

A: Yes. We maintain an active duty/retiree to civilian ratio per our agreements with the Marine Corps. Our ratio is positive right now so we have no civilian waiting list. We invite you to join and QSC will sponsor you for base access.

QSC is an amazing gem and phenomenal opportunity to practice and improve shooting skills. Both club members and staff are extremey friendly, and safety is always top notch. Outside of being in the military, I don't know of anything comparable where you could have an opportunity to shoot on such world class ranges. (And many thanks to MCB Quantico for allowing the QSC to use their ranges when not being used for military training.)

I used to be a member here but IΓÇÖll never join again. In theory, this should be a pretty good range. The problem is that they never have ranges open for members to use. Want to go to church on Sunday morning? They might have a range open but 11:00am is too late to use it. The ranges that are consistently open are always used for shooting matchesΓÇönews flash: not everyone participates in these events. Some of us just want to practice for hunting season, teach our kids firearm safety, or just shoot some targets. The bottom line is that a range membership is a waste of money if you canΓÇÖt show up on the weekend and use it. I might as well take that money out in the street and burn itΓÇöIΓÇÖll get the same value. For people who want to arrange their whole life around QSC, this membership is probably fine. But most regular people should look elsewhere.

Outstanding outdoor ranges, with friendly and helpful staff who go out of their way to make sure members have a safe and enjoyable experience. They have to jump through all kinds of hoops to make this happen at MCBQ, and they do it with a smile. RSOs are incredibly helpful and patient. If you ask, thereΓÇÖs always someone willing to provide a few pointers and help you improve your shooting. Great community, emphasis on safety the entire time. IΓÇÖve met a lot of member RSOs who are just there to shoot that day.

I just joined this club. Leadership is very professional and would recommend for new members looking to shoot on MCB. Look at the website for info. Update: USPSA match was professionally executed. This is a good club to join.

Super friendly and helpful, Steve helped me trouble shoot my scope and got me on the range at short notice. RSO was instrumental in guiding me in at 1000 yards. Member for life now.
