Range USA Round Rock

Q: When are you opening?
A: Rumor has it the 24th of this month. I have not been able to verify this.
- Sheldon Kurtzhals (5 years ago)
Q: Is the location in round rock open yet?
A: Yes
- Joshua Bazar (3 years ago)
Q: Can I use my jamaican password to get in
A: Not sure, you need to call them. Great group of people there.
- Jays Ewing (5 months ago)
Q: Is it also available for non US citizen?
A: Non US citizens need a valid passport. However, there are only 2 - 3 dozen countries that are allowed to shoot in the range. Call first.
- Ron Silva (7 months ago)
A: State issued ID
- Hernan Visser (7 months ago)
A: From their website: "All shooters above 18 must possess a valid state-issued ID or US passport" I would call them and ask.
- Joseph Granado (7 months ago)
A: As far as I know
- Dale Johnson (7 months ago)
A: Thanks everyone
- Dongjoon Yu (7 months ago)
Q: How long is the range?
A: 25 yards. 20 Lanes.
- Sam Davis (8 months ago)
Q: Do I need a reservation or do I just go?
A: You can reserve online, if you just go be wary about wait times as it may be busy, but during slow times youΓÇÖre good
- Nunya Busyines (9 months ago)
A: You can just go. Depending on time and weather you may have to wait a bit but no reservations are needed.
- Gray Spencer (9 months ago)
A: I just did a 'Walk-In', so a 10-30 minute wait is possible - like most Ranges. Unknown if Reservations happen. There are a few high-chairs and I believe two cushion seats. Vending Machines & Restrooms
- Sgt. F.T.O. (9 months ago)
Q: Do you have the Tavor /X95 for rent at the range?
A: Yes, we do.
- Ron Silva (a year ago)
Q: Can you shoot from the bench while seated? I'm looking to sight in my rifle.
A: Yes.
- Maximus Maze (a year ago)
Q: How much do it cost to shoot at the range
A: If you don't have a membership it's going to be about 60 to $70
- A G (2 years ago)
Q: Is there a minimum target size this range accepts? If so, what is that limit?
A: I am unsure. Sorry!

Extremely long waits. Wont even tell you u have to sign the waiver so you have to wait in line again. 1 hour plus wait to use the range. Extremely understaffed. Takes 5 hours to buy a gun

They will trick you into getting membership, and they wont let you cancel it in store. If you are older and struggle with technology, don't go here. Instead go to Reds nearby.

This was my second time getting training thru Range USA but first time using private instruction. We got Ben L as an instructor. He was excellent teacher and did well to connect the classroom with the range. With his simple explanations on the range, I was able to improve my confidence and accuracy on the range.

the wife and i decided to go to range USA for our anniversary. They rented out half of their lanes for a party. We had 8 minutes left on our lane i asked the range officer about staying later and paying when we leave he said if its a couple minutes they wouldnt mind. I said no im talkin like an extra 30 mins he said they would charge us but we could go out pay and they would just add it to our time. so my wife went out to pay and overheard the manager yelling at the range officer to get us out. i was then told that i would need to pack up my stuff and go out and wait 45 mins before we could get back in. needless to say we left. i will never use range usa again. thats never happened at Reds which is right up the road.

They don't do trade ins. I called the previous Thursday to make sure before making the trip out there. Was told they do, but only on weekdays. I removed all aftermarket items from the firearm and returned it to stock that weekend. Got it ready for whatever weekday i might be able to go after work. I managed to make it out there that Monday, around 815. They close at 9. When I finally got some help and explained, i wanted to trade in a ruger 556. I was told they are not taking any rifles in. That he has way too many rifles as it is. Just seem like a bunch of nonsense, an excuse not to do any work. They have an online store and the website also states they do trade ins for store credit. They wasted my time and very unprofessional. Thanks for nothing. I didn't know a basic ruger ar-556 was a type 3 item. Then that means my SAW is a WMD. Excellent. 😈 It's also amazing how you were able to determine that without even looking at it.

5-Star Review for Range USAΓÇÖs Online License to Carry Class I recently took the online License to Carry (LTC) class at Range USA, and I couldnΓÇÖt be happier with the experience! The course was straightforward, easy to follow, and packed with useful information. I was a little nervous going in, but the way it was laid out made everything feel really manageable. For the proficiency demonstration, I worked with Ben Lanzotti at Range USA, and he was absolutely fantastic! He shared a ton of valuable tips and really took the time to make sure I felt comfortable. What I thought would be a super stressful test ended up being a really positive and encouraging experience thanks to him. Before testing, we got memberships at Range USA so we could practice and get more comfortable with shooting. That was definitely a great decision because every time Ben was at the range, he would always offer advice, tips, and encouragement. You can tell he genuinely wants people to succeed and feel confident. Overall, I highly recommend Range USAΓÇÖs LTC course! Whether youΓÇÖre new to shooting or just need to get certified, this is a great place to do it. Super informative, stress-free, and a great team to help you along the way!

The facility was really nice and well maintained. The staff are all really nice. This was originally two paragraphs of compliments, because they do a lot of things right. I had to delete this section because I maxed out the word limit. Unfortunately, I experienced issues that made my time unenjoyable. Shooting from the holster is prohibited. I entered the range and set my pistol on the shooting stall. I was immediately approached and told "you are not allowed to wear your duty belt while shooting." I stepped off line and stripped my belt. I took a magazine out and was approached again. I was told I am only allowed to load a magazine while standing on the firing line. I begin to load a magazine in the stall and I'm once again stopped by the same staff member. He asks if there's a gun sitting in my obviously empty duty belt on the table behind me. He asks me if it was my first time visiting that range. I was with a group of experienced shooters, as am I, and I consider myself to be pretty squared away and professional in appearance. I know he's just doing his job, but it's an important distinction that it was a hassle, and I was not being approached in conversational manner. Thinking I am ready shoot, I aquire my dot a few times from the high ready position a few times. As I've always trained, my barrel was oriented slightly upwards. I am immediately approached once again by the same range employee who tells me I am not allowed to train from the high ready position. He explained one of their range instructors shot themselves in the face, and it's possible I shoot the metal beam above me, ricocheting the bullet and killing me. I'm extremely confused at this point, and very frustrated. I did not bring my pistol above a 45┬░ angle, and I was in no way being unsafe. I can reasonably train from three positions. From holster, from high ready, and from low ready. I knew for certain I would not be allowed to shoot from low ready at this daycare facility, so I asked from what position I am to punch out from. The instructor asked "you probably never shoot at an indoor range, do you." I told him I do. The instructor explained i am to hold the pistol in the center of my chest facing forward at all times, and punch out with the barrel always on the same line. This is completely useless to train. In reality I will not be walking around unintentionally pointing my pistol at everything that happens to be infront of me. I will never let my muzzle cover anything that I am not willing to destroy. I did as I was instructed, but I paid my money to be forced to practice bad habits. I over hear the range instructor telling someone they can draw mags from a pouch while shooting. He later comes and interrupts me again to tell me I can wear my duty belt to draw magazines from. I felt like I was walking on egg shells, and I was certain if I took the time to put my belt back on, I would somehow entice another interjection. It would have been nice to get some reload training, but I had already accepted I would gain nothing but annoyance from my time. And what precious little time I had. An employee came in and told us that we have 5 minutes till we have to stop shooting. This was news to me, I paid for an hour for me and my friends. The business has clearly posted hours of staying open till 9, but the "last bullet" is at 8:45. It's not a big deal, but it was definitely a cherry on top. I wish I was told I wasn't getting what I paid for. It really doesn't matter, but it did feel like going to a restaurant and 15 minutes before closing, they take your food off your table. Another minor annoyance is the employee coming and standing directly behind me, constantly checking his phone for the time so he can kick me out the second it's time. I can't believe they didn't harass me about my sluggish shooting tempo being to fast, I'm sure if I went again they would. We will never know. The employees genuinely seem like really nice people. I had a terrible experience, this goo-goo-ga-ga stuffs not for me. Not fun, not useful.

You will always remember this place after paying their $100 (!!!) firearm transfer fee. They said the fee is made so high to encourage people buy firearms from them instead of using them for transfers ... what a joke! This unfairness would make some sense if they have a monopoly, but a number of other places nearby all sell firearms and perform transfers. They pushed me away from having business with them ever.... because I will remember this place by their senseless unfairness.

This is how you run a range / gun store. I've lived in Austin all my life and having just gotten home from Range USA in Round Rock, I am convinced it's the best I've been to in the area. The staff was super friendly and waiver / sign up process was incredibly easy. Also, the way they handle range time during busy hours is super fair for both members and non members alike. I'll be back!

My story... I'm not an expert by any means. A few of my family members and I started showing an interest in firearms about a few months ago. Naturally, we wanted to get better so the first thing we looked for is a safe place to practice in. After shopping around, I purchased a membership to RangeUSA's Round Rock location. I frequented the location a few times a week. The staff are genuine, they care about the customers and have always ensured a safe place for myself and members of my clan. After getting comfortable handling firearms, I signed up for their LTC course. Ben was our instructor that evening and let me tell ya, he's the absolute worst! :D I'm kidding Ben. He made the class entertaining (just the right amount) but also, very informative. Needless to say, we all passed that night. All in all, my experience has been positive, and I can say with some degree of confidence that members of my family also feel the same way. Thanks Ben!

Update: 2/6/25 After this review I was contacted by their headquarters within 24 hours and was told the two RSOs have been given training on what the rules are and what their role is. You CAN shoot a controlled pair here, pause, then shoot again. It was very quick and I appreciate that. For their response and correction I give it 4 stars. I will return and see how it goes. 2/5/25 I had a bad experience last two times I went which caused me to cancel my membership. This range is tailored to new and hobby shooters only. I was trying to work on my controlled pair splits and was told i cant "rapid fire". When confronted i asked what split constituted as such to stay within guide lines and the RSO didnt know and told me i could only fire one round a second. I tried to compromise and say "let me do my pair, i'll wait a second and a half or two and shoot again" Seems fair right? Was told no again. The guy in the bay next to me had to explain it to her because she grasping what i was telling her. When i asked why I couldn't, she said that because they have new shooters and they might think its ok for them to do that too and they would end up shooting the track or table. That is not my problem, thats their whole job as an RSO. To maintain a safe environment while making judgement calls on what constitutes as an un safe shooter. Not telling me to slow down to one shot a second because they cant pay attention to the ones who actually need it. Whats confusing is ive been there on days when clearly new shooters are borderline mag dumping at a targets 5 yards away barely hitting the paper and they didnt say anything. So is "rapid fire" just whenever you feel like it is? It is extremely unfair that i have to slow down because the RSO cant identify new and dangerous shooters apart from experienced shooters looking to grow. I do not work there. I am extremely disappointed in this because i love this range and its very close to where i live and work. Now i have to drive an hour just to work on what i need for competition. Brandon was very polite and understanding with my complaint and tried to remedie the situation but I am not shooting at a place where I am being targeted or handicapped because they cant do their jobs correctly. If you cant tell someone whos shooting badly or unsafely they need coaching or bring the tagret in closer, then you shouldnt be an RSO. Its a gun range, not Target. The customer is not always right. If their feelings get hurt because you told them not to shoot as quickly because they arent at that skill level, then they need to either go to the class you provide, or reconsider if firearms are for them. An RSOs job is to observe, coach, and when NEEDED, be confrontational. I was told that my actions could be unsafe by someone who was letting a shooter hold their pistol by the bottom of the grip and mag well while leaning back... If Range USA can train their RSOs at a standard to identify someones skill and expierence and let them practice at that level, both good and bad and make the correct call, then i will come back. I will say though that if you are a new or novice shooter, this is a great place. If you're serious about growing as a shooter however, beyond that of a one day a month shooter, I recommend finding an outdoor range. This by no means reflects anything negative towards the manager or the guys at the counters. They were and are always helpful and friendly. Thanks again for trying to make it right Brandon and I apologize for being upset when on site. I'm canceling membership because of the behavior and incompetentance of the RSOs, not how you handled it.

Prelude: Range USA keeps a file on every customer, their range time and most troubling, a record of all magazine and ammunition purchases. These records are only kept for one reason and that is to share them. With whom? I think, we can all figure it out. As a member here, I had a few annoying experiences and two major disappointments. Let’s attribute the annoying cases to employee ignorance. They weren’t but let’s do. The instances were very poorly handled and I left frustrated but they weren’t the end of the world. Just before Christmas, I went in to purchase a few AR-15 magazines. Simple enough, I thought. Little Daniel (with a mohawk and supposedly the floor manager) sullenly rang me up. No greeting, no eye contact, no words spoken and a painfully long wait to do a point of sale transaction. Apparently, serving paying customers is something that bothers little Daniel. Oh, how right I was to think that. Little Daniel asked for my phone number to plug into their database. Apparently, in little Daniel’s world, if you ask “why do you need my phone number?”, that is his cue to speak to a customer and member anyway he sees fit and that day, it was in a way one man should ever speak to another. His volition response instantly set me off. Little Daniel carries a very large framed, openly carried firearm to ward off any opposition to his insolent behavior. Go figure. I told little Daniel, his attitude sucked and I would be taking my business elsewhere. Long story truncated, little Daniel twice encouraged me to leave and never come back and I should “see if he cares”. I think, his little feelings were bruised by this point and he was trying to feel bulky for the first time in his life. It seemed, he thought he had influence. Little Daniel is one of those pompous and dreadful egotists who have to have the last word no matter what and I told him so. He could not let it go so, my daughter and I left after little Daniel slung a few petty insults at me. My daughter was absolutely stunned by his behavior and had never seen anyone act in such a manner. Truth be told, as a customer, I haven’t been treated that way in 25 years or more. It was abhorrent. Remember, all this began because I asked why he needed my phone number. I cancelled my membership that night. I figured, if a guy like little Daniel with his fragile ego, snazzy haircut and full-framed Hi Point can be a manager there, it was not a place for my daughter and I. That sort of unhinged behavior is accepted or, worse yet, encouraged from the top down. I attempted to get hold of the store manager by way of 23 unanswered phone calls on different days and 3 in store visits. I finally found someone who, after interrogating me about the nature of my message, did give Brandon, the manager, my call back info. The next day, Brandon returned my call and could not have been more disinterested in what I had to say. I figured out right then and there how little Daniel was permitted to act the way he did. Brandon wasn’t rude, he just didn’t give two craps and he mentioned how busy they were (10:30 AM on a Wednesday….) I wanted very badly for Range USA to be different than the other A-hole shooting ranges around. They’re not. They just have a nicer building.

Great options of merchandise great prices great customer service One stop shop pretty well impressed Although they do have good customer service I noticed on my receipt as a member there it promotes five or 10% off items that you buy I bought three boxes of ammunition $14 each did not get a discount on them so that's really upsetting rethinking my subscription actually going to cancel my subscription.
