Questions & Answers

Q: Do you need an appointment to come in and buy a gun and shotgun? Also, we'd like to having some training sessions. Can we arrange that when we visit your shop? Thanks

A: What's the lowest Decibel protection advisable to use at gun range? Does Reed's offer headsets for patrons to use?

- Maurice Baker (2 years ago)

A: Appointments are no longer required at this time. It is currently first come first serve 10am-7pm range and 10am-8pm store/ gun sales. Generally on the spot training is not available.

- Mike Burnham (2 years ago)

Q: I went last time over there and you need to have someone else with you if you want to rent a gun or?

A: You need to bring your own and then you can rent whatever you want that they have. The bring someone is a liability issue if you don't already have your own.

- Lonny Weissman (6 years ago)

A: Their is store anti-suicide policy which prohibits someone from renting a gun by themselves regardless of firearm experience/competency level. Its called "friend or firearm" if you do not bring a firearm with you and you desire to rent a firearm you must bring a friend. If you bring your own firearm you may also rent firearms. Furthermore, renting firearms requires competent knowledge on the use of the desired rental. Staff will test competency on desired rental before allowing rental. Rental firearms are required to use "REEDS AMMO", due to rental equipment being damaged by customer provided ammo. This next part cannot be stressed enough, if staff observes unsafe/dangerous firearm handling regardless of experience level or professional occupation you will be asked to leave.

- Mike Burnham (2 years ago)

- Dan Pechiu (7 years ago)

A: Good ventilation, air flow is from shooting stand toward target area (down range).

The staff is unhelpful. OK to pay and use the facility but asking for anything is likely to be refused. It's just an unfriendly business.

The head firearms instructor, Mike B, is awesome. Doesn't matter if you've ever fired a gun before...he'll quickly get you safe, competent, and confident in how to handle a pistol, and you'll have fun doing it. Can't recommend him and his intro to firearms class highly enough!

Very rude service. I understand rules might have changed but they could have treated first timers better.

My go to range in the Bay Area and probably the only indoor range still available in the Bay Area. I like Reed's because it's friendly towards beginners and it's actually located within the Bay Area and even though it's indoors it allows you to shoot buckshots which is extremely rare among all shooting ranges. The price is fair at $20 per hour per person per lane and can be extremely crowded in the weekend. It's a good price if you are shooting alone but when you have 2 or more per lane it adds up. The ammo pricing for the range is also fair and when they run sales on ammo it's actually not a bad deal. There is also a gun store attached to the shooting range and it's not bad either. It's not the cheapest but they are knowledgeable and helpful. Parking can be tricky but you can always find in the back around the corner except you'll have to walk with your gear.

First off this place is honestly such a run down range compared to the other places IΓÇÖve been too. The targets donΓÇÖt even stay on the hangars cause theyΓÇÖre so old and rusted. Not to mention the attitude of some of these employees. You would think that someone put a gun too their head to come into to work that day the way they treat customers like they have a million other things theyΓÇÖd rather be doing. The Indian dude who works the night shifts is chill and so are most of the guys that work later in the day but the morning staff just straight up sucks. ItΓÇÖs like they donΓÇÖt want people to shoot or get better. I am at a range to practice so how am I supposed to do that when the employee comes by every 2 mags to tell me and my friend were missing shots and theyΓÇÖre going over the target. Tells me and buddy we need to move the target closer. Whatever cool, except the guy next too us let his daughter shoot the roof multiple times and we saw the dust falling from the roof. Just ridiculous honestly I miss a couple shots with the target as far back as possible and I get told off but the girl next to me can hit the ceiling and not even get a warning. DonΓÇÖt go here, don't let people who canΓÇÖt even keep the same standards for everyone talk to you in a condescending tone like theyΓÇÖre not just minimum wage workers at a run down range.

Excellent range with friendly and knowledgeable staff. They offer a great selection of firearms for rent, making it one of the few ranges where you can try before you buy. Highly recommended for anyone considering their first handgunΓÇötest it out on the range, and if you like it, you can purchase it directly from them. They also provide a variety of classes, including Range Safety Officer training and other courses for both handguns and long guns. A fantastic place for both beginners and experienced shooters!

I've been here 5 times now and haven't had a single bad experience. Friendly and helpful staff, good RSOs and decent prices (for the bay area). I don't really understand the bad reviews - just don't act like an idiot and you won't be treated like one.

Had a nice experience this time. The range is a lot more discipline than before, seeing the range master actively correcting gun positions and behaviors. One minor complaint: the target clips are not as secure as they should be. Your paper might fall off when you move it back and forth.

Horrible experience here! If you really like to shoot fast and have fun, check manzano munitions membership. Members can access monthly range days featuring competition, combative, and freestyle options. I Highly recommend it👌

TLDR: 5/5 for the store. 4/5 for the indoor range. They require 2 or more people to get range time. They highly suggest you bring your own firearm. I have been to this store/indoor range three times in the last 2 months. I am looking for an indoor range I can practice at during inclement wather. There really are two businesses going on here. One is the indoor range and the other is the dealing of firearms and accessories. On the firearms dealing and accessories side: They have a great selection/inventory of handguns, rifles, and shotguns. They also have a great selection of associated accessories and safety equipment. 5 stars on selection. I did not purchase any firearms or accessories either time I have been in. The staff seemed competent and friendly. Both times I went in and asked questions they were knowledgeable and prompt. I like to browse and not feel pressed or rushed. I did not feel pressed or rushed. 5 stars on service. I went to use the indoor range today. Unexpectedly they were very busy. Made sense after I thought about it. if I took the week for vacation many others likely did as well. The range paper work seemed straight forward, and anyone who has been to indoor ranges knows the basic experience/expectations. Unfortunately I was unable to use their range. They have a 2 person requirement (not listed on their paper work), and they heavily suggest you bring your own firearm. They have a very large rental selection, and I was hoping to try a few firearms out. 4 stars on range experience. The two person requirement was not stated on the paperwork, or visibly posted as you walk up. I see it as a waste of time and gas. I would like to see them state this policy on their range paperwork, and post it visibly on their door to prevent others from waisting time and resources. Unfortunately their policy has ruled them out for me as a possible indoor range for practice. I would still go there for purchases of firearms and accessories.

I tried to rent a gun and the gentleman behind the counter ran me through some kind of safety check said I kept my finger on the trigger when I didn't. I've been shooting firearms for over 50 years. I have practice safe handling a firearms. He knew it was my birthday and so when he denied me the ability and said come back when you bring your own firearm and smirked at me on my birthday. I will never go back nor will I give them my money I was looking at renting a gun to go buy some more. I drove over a hundred miles just to have a fun thing to do on my birthday. Try a new firearm. This isn't the Reed's I remember. Which I had purchased other firearms in the past. Not anymore!

They definitely deserve the 1-star. And they deserve that over 0-stars because the two Indian employees were awesome. The Asian employee has an inferiority complex for being a tiny man. He was rude as can be. He wanted to correct us because we made a mistake for having too small of a target. ThatΓÇÖs fair. But he definitely didnΓÇÖt have to be rude and call out my friend (his first time shooting) for his inexperience and be offensive about it. People come to ranges to learn. IΓÇÖm an experienced shooter but it was my friendΓÇÖs first time. And this jerk wanted to cross the line and point out his inexperience solely because his shot was scattered. Avoid this business until they get rid of this employee with inferiority complex. By the way, the range isnΓÇÖt clean and isnΓÇÖt well taken care of. There are plenty of nicer ranges with kind fulfilled employees.
