Questions & Answers

Q: How do I get ahold of someone as far as going to see the range to see about joining which I'm sure will happen. I will renew my membership as soon as I'm able but I know for sure my dad and oldest son who is 30 want to go check out the range .

A: I believe their website has a video overview of the range, or perhaps visit the outdoorsman and ask, they may be able to guide you in the right direction regarding a visit. Or if you know someone who is a member, tag along with them one day.

Q: Do they do day pass, so you can check it out?

A: If you have a friend who can let you in or on the Saturday morning they are having orientation.

- Josh Rowland (4 years ago)

Q: Are steel targets available? Should I bring my own paper targets and stapler?

A: I believe steel targets are provided on some ranges. You must provide your own paper targets and fasteners. We usually bring our own a-frame wooden stands as well since the ones provided may be scarce.

Q: What's the maximum distance on your rifle range

A: 500 yards I believe.

- Josh Rowland (5 years ago)

Q: WhoΓÇÖs idea was it to close down the short 25 50 75 and 100 range two weeks before deer season? The short yard range gets used more than anything right before deer season people sighting in their guns at 25 & 50 after they put a new scope.

A: Haven't checked since last weekend, maybe due to too much water/mud, I'd just use the next longest range over.

Q: how do I get to join in order to use the gun range ?

A: There are orientations every week either Thurs or Sat and/or an online portion. Look at the website for details.

A: I have paid my membership fee (for first-time members) and I have not gotten a card or notification that I am a member yet. I see where my money was paid to you, and it went to you. So please let me know if you are sending my card or if I am to pick it up someplace. Ron.

- Ron Mecklenburg (2 years ago)

A: Thanks , I did find out after all , just kept looking .

- David Nunemaker (7 years ago)

My first time out. Didn't shoot, just looking over the facilities. The pistol bays are well set up. The mid and longer range pistol and rifle ranges are well set up with good covered benches, good berms, and decent target holders. Several of the rifle ranges are also lighted for late evening shooting. I didn't go into the new archery area to see the layout, but from the outside, it looked good. The grounds were clean and well kept.

Great range, great price. Always had plenty of room. As with anywhere else in this country, you get the occasional clown breaking the rules or doing something stupid for their social media. Join the club, protect the range from the idiots, enjoy the relaxing environment.

Very well maintained range with plenty of options for short and long range shooters. It's great to have access to a range 24/7. I have met a lot of very friendly members on my range days and strongly recommending it to friends that like to shoot.

First time going and didnΓÇÖt know what to expect. My buddy has a membership and we all have a bunch of weapons. He brought us in for free and they play by ΓÇ£grown upΓÇ¥ rules which was nice. We were the only ones at our range so we could set up and tear down targets as often as we liked. It wasnΓÇÖt busy at all anywhere on the entire location. Membership prices are fair too. IΓÇÖll be getting one for sure. Another awesome feature is that members have access 24/7. So IΓÇÖll be doing some night ranges as well. One of the better ranges IΓÇÖve been too through several states.

Come join us! San Angelo Gun Club's range is a real jewell. It is a save and legal place to shoot your pistols, rifles, and shotguns. Of course members can bring guest. It is one of the best firearm ranges in Texas. I must admit that I am a long time member and an active rifle shooter, in short, I am an old gun nut. Some of my best friends are members. We have fun at the range and we welcome new members. I have seen the local range change and grow in size and in membership. Safety is of utmost concern. We have an annual required orientation session that can be taken on line or at the range. This stresses that the club is owned by members and as members we need to keep the range safe and clean. If you haven't been to this range in a while you will notice many changes. We have card operated gates for our members. The dues are due on an annual basis. Simply put, if you don't pay your dues, your card will not work. We have replaced our old two strand barbed wire fence along the road with a high game fence not to discourage deer but to keep non members from sneaking in. We now have 5 rifle ranges from 50 yard to 500 yards with first class canopies covering the firing lines on 4 or them and the 5th will be covered shortly. We have added many pistol ranges. In short, we are using our dues to improve and maintain our club.

Very nice gun range, secure gated community setup, secluded, very friendly staff and members, lights for night time firing. Awesome gun range!

When I first started going there I thought it was great. Now they are having fences built to keep deer out yet not keeping the shooting tables up to date. They annually increase dues but donΓÇÖt improve ranges for the average user, nor do they currently follow the Gun Club by-laws and get multiple bids for all jobs they contract out, not that you can get a copy of the by-laws anymore. Back in the day when Fred was the president he wasnΓÇÖt hiding anything and the by-laws were readily abailiable and followed.

Great place to train, lots of ranges.

Great range, but you have to be a member to shoot unless you come with someone as a guest. Also remember to bring your own water.

You will be challenged to find a gun club that allows more freedom for training and at such a great price. There are pistol and action bays for tactical and high volume fire training, as well as 100 and 200 yard ranges for mid range engagements. There is also a skeet range for practicing sport and bird hunting. My only complaint is that the 500 yard range is only open for a few hours a month (unless it has changed since I moved). Other than that 10/10 will shoot again!

San Angelo Gun club is one of the Best shooting ranges that I have ever been to. The way it is set up you usually don't have to worry about waiting for others to clear the range or wait to put up/check your targets. They are also a active community with lots of events. The best part about it is, if you are a member, facilities are available 24/7/365 come and go as you please. I have shot at many ranges all across the state, and this one is my favorite by a wide margin.
