Extremely Disappointing Experience ΓÇô Do NOT Recommend! If youΓÇÖre Asian, I strongly advise you to avoid this place! My friends and I visited this shooting range with high expectations, only to be met with outright racism. The front desk attendant, an older white man, was incredibly rude and dismissive from the start. When we politely asked about the range rules and rental options, he responded with impatience and an obviously condescending tone. What made it even worse was the stark contrast in how he treated other customers. As soon as a white customer walked in after us, his demeanor completely changedΓÇöhe became friendly, engaging, and eager to assist. But when we attempted to register, he suddenly made up excuses, saying things like ΓÇ£WeΓÇÖre not open to the public todayΓÇ¥ or ΓÇ£ThereΓÇÖs no availability,ΓÇ¥ despite the fact that we saw other people being let in without any issues. This blatant racism was not even subtleΓÇöit was obvious, unapologetic, and extremely offensive. I have never encountered such discriminatory treatment at any shooting range in the U.S. If you care about being treated with basic respect and fairness, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. There are plenty of other professional and welcoming ranges that actually value their customers. Avoid this place at all costs!

Reading the reviews for SLRPR, you might think the staff would antagonize you and kick you out the moment you arrived on their property, but that couldnΓÇÖt have been further from what my wife and I experienced last night. We showed up as first-time customers and made sure to read up on the safety procedures (which are pretty much universal, common-sense concepts). We listened to the instructions and asked questions about anything we werenΓÇÖt sure of. The staff that night were helpful, friendly, and went out of their way to ensure we felt welcomed and comfortable. Later on, I decided to take my AR-15 to the outdoor range to zero in the sights. One of the staff members took his time to help me with the adjustments and patiently walked me through the process right up until they had to close for the night. Meanwhile, my wife was holding it down in the indoor range and felt more than comfortable on her own. As we left, we both remarked on how much fun we had and how we canΓÇÖt wait to make this a regular date night. Shoutout to the staff who helped us on the evening of 1/9/25 (IΓÇÖm terrible at remembering names, lol). And remember, if you have a bad experience with another human being or professional trying to do their job and maintain a safe environment, take a moment to internalize, reflect, and consider that it might just be you. :)

The staff definitely are more old school, which is actually a bonus in someways and were overall great. My main complaint is that in lane 12 of the indoor range I got hit with some spall or shrapnel not once, but *thrice* which to me indicates the facility unfortunately is due for some serious maintenance. I was hit once on the back of my right arm above my elbow, once in my tongue (pulled out a tiny fragment), and also in neck (lucky no real blood there, just sharply bruised and minor trickle bleeding). I was with friends and they saw the blood, and look I get this happens, but three times within 15min something is going on. Importantly, I was never the one firing the gun when this happenedΓÇöI didnΓÇÖt even rack or aim the gun yet and once I was just reloading. The staff told me ΓÇ£this happens sometimesΓÇ¥, but look 3 times in a single day is a bit strange youΓÇÖd think (explains the little dings on the paneling around me too). We joked about it and IΓÇÖm a chill guy so itΓÇÖs not their fault, but the owner should consider doing maintenance as itΓÇÖs easily the most run down range in the bay area (IΓÇÖve been to all of them). I canΓÇÖt explain at all why this was happening and frankly I donΓÇÖt even see how itΓÇÖs happening so I donΓÇÖt even know what to suggest as the fix, but something is sending fragments into stall 11 and 12. Highly recommend not being in lane 11 and higher if youΓÇÖre indoor, or just go to the outdoor section. tl;dr: chill vibes, but the place is seriously showing its age and might need serious maintenance for safety

TLDR: Indoor and Outdoor ranges, indoor range is open longer. They don't rent any firearms, they do sell basics like ear and eye protection, targets, and ammunition. $25 for a day pass to use the indoor or outdoor range. Service: 5/5 *Professional, courteous, helpful Quality of Range: 5/5 *Well lit, well ventilated, maintained Value: 5/5 *For $25 you have all day range access, indoor or outdoor, and yes you can leave and come back as long as you keep your receipt. It is good for the day. If you have been to a range, you are probably familiar with the paperwork, pricing, and over all how things work. The San Leandro Rifle & Pistol Range (They/Them) has two ranges. They have an indoor range, and an outdoor range. I have only used the indoor range, but did look around the outdoor range, and asked questions. I have been there 4 times in the last month and a half, once just to check it out, and 3 times for practicing. The Indoor Range: has about 14 lanes. The indoor range has the longest operational hours. Indoor range has distances that go from 5 yards, out to 15 yards in your lane (they have markings on the ground and wall for 5, 7, 10, 13, and 15). Your lane has a carriage to hang your target from, and you can send your target out or retrieve it using a switch on the left side of your firing lane. Your range fee gains you all day access to either range (indoor or outdoor), as well as 1 standard 25-yard qualification paper target. You can bring your own paper targets, stick ons, or purchase more targets, or stick on targets from them. Only pistols are allowed on the indoor range. Pistols, Rifles, and Shotguns are allowed on the outdoor range with ammo and distance restrictions. There are minimal ammunition (ammo) restrictions on the indoor range, but ask if you have questions (I think it's just no LR) The Indoor Range: There seem to be some type of training (not sure if it is offered, or just standing for law enforcement), that happens in the indoor range, and this can directly affect how many lanes are open to the general public. I did not ask about training, so I don't know how any of that works. Indoor Range: Yes they allow you to take photos and video, however, the person doing so must not also be firing a weapon, and must be behind the firing line (a clearly marked yellow line on the ground). The outdoor range is open regardless of weather. You can ask them if you have any specific questions about how it is ran, or what you can or can not do/use there. They are approachable. I like that the staff are not cliquish, overbearing, or boisterous. Basic rules are: All firearms must arrive and leave in a case (soft or hard). All weapons need to face down range when in use, or not in use (until they are cased). No rapid fire, or double taps. Rapid fire is more than 1 round in any 2 second time period. This does not apply to the people who are training (I think they are police cadets, and active law enforcement maintaining skill sets). You must stay in your lane while firing, nothing allowed past the red line (which is in front of your bench in your firing lane). No holster draws/drawing from your clothing. Weapons must be unloaded, with chamber open if left on the firing line bench for any reason (bathroom break, swapping targets, changing off who is shooting). If you have any questions the staff is willing to answer them, and will provide guidance in a firm but respectful way (lane 12 no rapid fire, lane 14 your chamber needs to be open if you step away from the bench, etc).

It was my first visit to San Leandro Range on Thanksgiving Eve. I came in from state of Nevada, visiting my children in northern California. Invited my son and his mother to the range. Everyone enjoyed their shooting experience there. Range master Brian T. was very friendly and helpful, and let me emphasize, patient. During our two hour session, Brian came over to my table to gently warn me of my rapid firing, which I totally appreciated. Sometimes I get too excited and forget being in an indoor range. I'm a regular handgun shooter in Nevada, where firing ranges are more accessible. Public ranges are far and few in northern California. I'm greatly thankful that San Leandro R&P Range is here to provide us with the opportunity for fun, training and safety exercise.

First time I came here I was pleasantly surprised. 2nd time a range officer came out to yell at me with an attitude because "I couldn't park there" when I just tried to walk in to check if there's even any available space for shooting. I just left. You can't treat your customers in such a condescending manner.

I really appreciate a gun range open to the public in the bay area. Over my many years of intermittent patronage I have seen them continually upgrading the facilities. It is a pleasant and safe place to shoot.

Been here now several times and I have enjoyed the experience every time. All the staff have been great and of course they have to be firm when it comes to gun safety. There are idiots amongst us who fail to remember they're holding a gun so I appreciate when a staff member corrects the behavior immediately for the sake of safety. I'm a Mexican born latino and it only matters because a lot of stupid reviews of racism are found and I have felt the complete opposite. Thank you for doing your jobs in keeping us safe SL Rifle & Pistol peeps!

Stay away from this place. It's dirty and smells like trash. The staff is racist and rude. The cost is way too high and very little gets upgraded. Ammo rules are a joke, did I mention they are racist?

I love this range! I was blown away with how helpful the Safety Officers were during my recent trip. Read about their safety policies in advance, and don't hesitate to ask them questions if they come up. They'll take good care of you at this range.

I had an excellent experience at San Leandro Rifle & Pistol Rang. The staff was incredibly friendly and made sure I felt comfortable throughout my visit. They were knowledgeable, approachable, and eager to assist, whether you're a first-timer or a seasoned shooter. The location is also fantasticΓÇöeasy to find and conveniently situated. The facilities were clean and well-maintained, making the entire experience enjoyable. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a top-notch shooting range.

Lots of complaints in the comments but I have experienced none in multiple times I have been there. Even when I made a procedure error while learning their processes I never felt like I was being disrespected or anything. It's not a modern place and the parking lot is a challenge (if coming with a group try to minimize the number of cars please) but still a place to relax and focus on the serious business of operating a firearm. Relax and have a good time.
