I am writing this review on behalf of my father who after being a member for over 25 years and who has volunteered at this club was just permanently banned for his only infraction. My dad joined over 25 years ago when I wanted to learn how to shoot so I could go deer hunting with him. Back then there were no rules for this club. I remembered as a 12 year old learning to shoot with a guy next to me shooting a 50 cal sniper on the 100 yard range. I guess incidents like that prompted the club to develop new rules and regulations which is a good thing. My dad also volunteered numerous times to help maintain the club. Fast forward 25 years my dad has retired and moved out from the area. Due to the long wait list to join he maintained his membership so I could use the rifle range just to make sure my gun was sighted in. The first time I go to use the range without him I got caught by a member of the board. I'll admit I was wrong and own it. But to go through this whole vetting/review process just to permanently ban a 25 year member is just deplorable. My dad has hunted for over 50 years, he served in the Navy, and even spent a year in Afghanistan from 2019-2020 and this is the treatment he gets? Some power hungry board members who haven't probably haven't done anything meaningful in their lives trying to act like big dogs. 25 years of paying over $400 a year to use the rifle range maybe once a year just to make sure our guns were sighted in. Do not join this club. They are a big rip off and will ban you over the smallest infractions.

I have been a member of Sanner's Lake Sporting Club for years. I can tell you any and everything you want to know about the club, so please reach out if you have questions. Yes, there is a fee to join and yes, there are yearly dues. We also have clean-up and maintenance duties that are not a requirement but are necessary to keep the grounds beautiful and operational. Sanner's Lake also conducts classes and other educational benefits for all if inclined. All shooters do not come to Sanner's Lake with the same educational backgrounds, so no matter if you are an 30+ year experienced military trained professional, or a Business Data Analyst at Boose Allen, you can come as you are and experience, learn and train at your level safely and comfortably! As many members as we have, I often find myself alone, or in the company of one, or two folks. That is the beauty of it; never over crowded! Outdoor shooting at its best! I also find the classes to be packed with very informative information and never topics and discussions that go over my head! Sanner's Lake is a community of like minded enthusiasts who take pride and ownership of the art of shooting and maintaining the grounds to keep it a fantastic experience for all to enjoy; the novice as well as the experienced shooter! If you're looking for another place to shoot, this may not be the place for you! If your looking for a place to learn your gun, learn how to be a better and safer shooter, educate yourself and others on shooting and communicate with like minded people, this is ABSOLUTELY the place for you! I enjoy Sanner's Lake and I know you will too! My only gripe is I live too far away... I'd like to go more often than I do, but if you shoot more than 5 times a year, it more than pays for itself!

I donΓÇÖt recommend this club. You are required to take a safety class after joining which was never available. I tried for months to enroll. Never could get an individual to respond. Also, the initiating and yearly fees are very high.

Absolutely nothing from the review of Sanners from Brian below me is correct. None of it. That place is amazing, I just got in.

I have always wanted to go shooting there but it's not open to the public. And if you live in St. Mary's and enjoy recreational or target shooting there is no place in the county to go. Unless you happen to know someone with land, I even filled out all of the paperwork to become a member, but between the application fee of $250 or $300 Plus the yearly membership fee of. $600 or $800 I wouldn't have any money left over for ammunition and that's if they accepted your application ! Needless to say I am so happy that the new indoor range has opened up at Flat Broke Shooters In Dameron ST. Mary's.

Best sportsmen's club in the state! Facilities and ranges are clean and well-managed. Members and administrators are friendly and knowledgeable. Matches are frequent, well-run, and cater to all of the shooting sports. Highly recommended!

Although this is a private club, they frequently have events that are shared with the public. There is a strict emphasis on safety as well as extensive opportunities for a very wide range of training on many subjects. An emphasis is on women and youths training. The ranges are clean and accountability requirements high. Additionally they have an archery range and competition ranges. Their instructors are top notch and extremely knowledgeable. There is so a stocked lake for catch and release or swimming when it gets too hot.
