Scarborough Fish & Game Association

Q: Is there a reason why gunfire and explosion sounds are so constant on Saturday? It sounds like a war every week around here. I'm assuming it's you all, because you're closest to me, but man it's been loud lately.
A: Saturday and Sunday's are the days that the club hosts matches, trap, sporting clays, high powered rifles and precision pistol

2024 Maine State Trap Shoot Day was hot, events moved along with staff taking care of everything. Targets were good. Always fun.

Show up for clay shooting on a Sunday open to the public and no one around. Finally reached someone on the phone and they closed early because ΓÇ£no one showed up.ΓÇ¥

Too many stupid rules, gun safety is cool and necessary but this place is too much. I got yelled at like I was a child for using my new shotgun at the shotgun patterning board, and my guest was yelled at by the "lead range safety officer" for sighting in his AR. Which was all OK by the posted rules. So, the only area I can shoot my shotgun, OR shoot with rifle to side arm transitions I need to go to the one police range that is rented out a majority of the time. This place was out of the way and expensive anyway.

Before you apply for a membership, make absolutely sure you can attend the orientation dates. My credit card was charged upon receipt of my application form, only to find that due to my work schedule I would be unable to attend orientation on the scheduled dates. The club would not find a way to make this work with my schedule and after 3 months of a frustrating series of emails with the board of directors (who strongly need to improve their communication skills) I received my refund, minus the $50 application fee. I've been a member at 5 other gun clubs in the past and never had an experience like this. I almost gave it a 2nd star for having great facilities but my experience with the organization was very negative. I'm down $50 and 3 months of looking for a new club now that I've moved to Maine.

Became a member a year and a half ago after shooting Trap, IDPA and my Kids learning Air Pistol here. Best F&G club around. Never experienced snooty or rude, but if that was referring to people asking others to follow safety rules, I'm all for it. Some people get bent outta shape if you call out their lack of safe firearm handling. These guys taught me about action pistol from the ground up and I could not have asked for a better group to learn from. Not only that, but they have many outreaches open to all in the community, I've shot here with varied ages, genders, races, and religions. This place defines how to create responsible firearms owners.

I have never experienced people being rude or "Snooty". The people that I have run into have always been willing to help. The ranges are great. They also offer a archery facility with a static range of 3-D targets and a 30 target filed 3-D course.

Was a member for a year. Expensive. lots and lots of rules. better just to be a visitor for the sporting clays etc and pay the little more that non memebers pay for events. i belong to three other fish and games and this club is the snootiest by far. Lots of real rude folks here. I heard the rumor before I joined and it turned out to be true. they do have a real nice long distance rifle range though..only one of its kind in state....but doesnt make up for the cost of membership and the rudeness...no sir
