Questions & Answers

Q: Is the range bring your own firearm or are there some for rent for the range? Asking as a beginner? Also, are under 18 but over 16 year olds allowed with adult supervision?

A: It's bring your own firearms, just a simple range. To the best of my knowledge there isn't an age restriction with adult supervision, at least in my experience.

Q: Is the range open on mondays

A: Yes

- Cary Pipes (5 years ago)

Q: Are there any rules or regulations that prohibit the use of full auto? IΓÇÖve not noticed any signage stating one way or the other.

A: I've gone there for years and never seen any full autos....if you have a ffl to own one I think you may draw a crowd...have fun.

Q: Can you shoot crossbows at this range if you have your own targets?

A: My guess would be No. There's no open spots to put your own targets within the burms of the range.

- Darren Quirouet (6 years ago)

Q: Range distances for rifles ?

A: 25-50-100 yards for rifles..

- Paul Williams (6 years ago)

Q: what is the exact address

A: Doesn't look like the Dept of Conservation list an address, only directions. The Google location for the range is accurate. If you are on Scrivner Rd looking for the turn off it is easy to miss. It at the top of a hill, only a small conservation dept sign, and a larger sign for "Wild Horse Creek Ranch" marking a gravel road.

Q: How many yards can you shoot?

A: Pistol range is (or was before they resealed the pavement) marked off at 3, 7, 15, and 25 yards and paved to 30. Rifle is 25, 50 and 100 yards with covered shooting benches. Also a shotgun field for clays.

Compared to finger lakes this place is what you could call a "go to" for shooting, was a very clean and welcoming environment, everyone that was there was super friendly and helpful, one man was picking up brass which I thought was pretty neat considering there were thousands of casings, I will return, oh and bring something to hang your targets

It's a toss up if you get to shoot targets or get muzzle swept. I try to not go much, but sometimes it's the only alternative.

Well mowed shooting lanes and well kept walking areas. Overall a well kept shooting area. Brought cardboard and taped over the holey, well used rubber targets and BAM! Brand new targets! Agent Eric arrived and thanked us all for enjoying the range. Even gave my grandson a gift certificate for a free ice cream cone for being a first time shooter.

Will taken care of, it's free, what can you complain about? I enjoyed it plenty and not many people were there. If you seeking brass to reload, you can find plenty. Thank you Mo state for this range

Laid out well. Shot guns all to the end for the distance. Need better signs to get there. Beautiful scenery. Gravel parking. Bring everything to need, hearing protection ETC.

Very nice setup by the state. The site use to be a cattle farm. Bring something to hold your targets in place. We had just had some rain that made the shotgun range a little marshy. Has decent pit toilets and parking.

First time shooting here yesterday (late morning). I was happy to see only a few shooters taking advantage of a beautiful warm, windless and sunny day. At one point I was the only shooter on Range B. I have to question the safety when I look up to see the Range B sign, under the pavilion, riddled with bullet holes and on my way back to my truck, behind the shooting lanes, I see the corrugated metal drainage culvert with multiple bullet holes as well. It only takes a few bad apples to ruin a good thing for everyone. Otherwise it was a great day and IΓÇÖll return.

Its a free Dept of Conservation self service range. I go here somewhat regular, and it seems to be well maintained covered shooting areas, nice solid shooting benches with left or right seats. I am just not sure what they where thinking with the target stands. They look like they are the edges off of maintainer blades stuck in the ground with 12" wide strips of bullet hole and staple ridden rubber stretched between them. I guess they wanted something that wasn't easily shot up, but it seems like a major ricochet risk. If you are using larger targets like B-27s bring cardboard to help support them. Ranges are pistol, 25, 50, 100yd rifle, and the have a field for shooting clays. There is also one of those pit toilets on site but I think I would rather use the bushes. I have gotten to where I avoid this place if it is busy mainly because it is unmanned so no range officers to police the safety of the shooters. I have also seen people "hog" the range, one shooter taking up multiple lanes.
