Questions & Answers

Q: Do you habe to pay to shoot on range

A: Yes, you habe to. I Googled it, and whaddya know- I found the US Forest Service website with every range listed, when they're open, and the fee schedule. I had no idea the Internet was so useful. Amazing

Q: Can your shoot skeet here?

A: So long as nobody else is there and you don't shoot until the skeet drops below the backstop I guess you could. It's 100 yards long and maybe 60 feet wide so...

You never can shoot always crowded. Time should be limited and enforced. Not everyone pays their $3. Several walk by while I'm filling out the card.

No frills, just a basic range. But more than enough to do some practice shooting. And for the price, you can't beat it.

We go quite a bit. Nice setup for a public shooting range. The state does a pretty good job at keeping it up.

4 shooting tables. There are steps going down with grab rails in the middle. $3 to shoot all day.

Most of the time I go I am the only one there. It is an awesome place and is only 3 dollars. I really wish people would stop throwing trash out here. I went a few days ago and someone had stacked car rims by the trash can and thrown bags of trash out on the dirt road. I spent more time loading trash than shooting. This is a place that is owned by the people and should be left better than you found it.

Saturday 1-28-23 I found a pair of prescription sunglasses. IΓÇÖd like to get them to the owner. I believe it was from the couple on the far bench. If you can get in contact with me somehow.. Great place and location. Only wish one group didnΓÇÖt leave their case of water bottles down range. ItΓÇÖs not a dump.

Always quiet, most of the time you have the range to yourself (except on some weekends), day use fee is only $3 per car, and yes itΓÇÖs on a dirt road but itΓÇÖs well maintained, ride out past the range a little bit and thereΓÇÖs a trail to a waterfall even. Great place to go. Range is set up for 25/50/100 yards

Shepherd Branch Shooting Range is a nice range inside of the Talladega National Forest. Range goes out to 100 yards. It is wide enough for 4 to 5 lanes. We were there early enough and had the range to ourselves. There is not anyone on duty here, so please cleanup after yourself. I'm sure it can become crowded quickly. $3 per vehicle.

Pros✔️ quiet spot, and the times I went there is nobody there, and you only "have to" leave small $ donation in some box as a fee. Cons❌ There's only enough room for like maybe 2 or 3 shooters at a time, and you have to drive off road for about half a mile so make sure you have a spare tire just in case.

It's close and practically free. Plus it's up to 100 yard targets. kinda out in the stix though. You gotta go down a rough dirt road for like ten minutes. And then you can't see it from the road. You can only see the sign for it.
