The office staff were extremely friendly, and I loved being met at the door by a pup with a big ol smile. Overall, for $15, the range is acceptable. The rifle side needs to have some serious brush trimming done, it's blocking sight lines of the two leftmost bays, and the target stands on the rifle side need to be rebuilt. Also, there's barrels that you shoot through on the rifle side. Not sure why they have them, but they definitely accelerate getting a headache from the pressures of larger rounds, and they'll shake your teeth a bit when a round goes off. So plugs and muffs for proper hearing protection. Based on that, it would be a 3 star. HOWEVER... It gets 1 star because of the inexcusable safety violation I witnessed the SAFETY OFFICER make. Pistol range was cold, no shooters were beyond the yellow line, save for a father and son who were downrange hanging targets. The safety officer saw my revolver, sitting on the firing line, CYLINDER OPEN with clearly spent casings in it and not live rounds, with no live rounds near the firing line either. Without calling the two people back from downrange, and without locating the owner, he decided it was a good idea to cross the yellow line and handle a firearm with shooters downrange. That is inexcusable, and actions like that will eventually get someone hurt or worse. You're better off with no safety officer than you are with one who makes such basic safety violations. The appropriate action would have been to recall the two shooters downrange and then, once everyone is safely behind the firing line, approach the revolver and confirm it's safe and clear of live rounds.

if you like shooting sports, this is your place! A good friend and I shoot her regularly, and its awesome. The staff are very knowledgeable, friendly and want to make your visit fun - and safe as well. Their prices are very reasonable, have guns and ammo and accessories for sale, as well as being a licensed FFL store and gunsmith. The folks that shoot here are friendly and safe as well, making you feel very much at home on the firing ranges. Plus, they have a multi-station trap range on site, with super equipment and plenty of space to try your shotguns on sporting clays as well as regular target shooting. Great location, super staff and customers, great value in pricing. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Well, they no longer have sporting clays and the 5 stand was the only shotgun sport. We hadn't been in a few years and they laughed at me when I walked in and asked to shoot sporting clays. I guess we should have called ahead but they still have sporting clays in the name... Not sure that was totally on me. Looks like it's primarily a pistol/rifle range now.

Tried out this range with my brother in law and father in law and really enjoyed it. Staff is friendly, range is great. Only negative, which did not result in a lost star, was a few of the throwers on the shotgun range were down but there were still plenty to choose from. Will go again for sure

Staff was awesome. Course was remarkable. This place is well worth the short drive from Ft. Walton, Beach. In town from Lousiana on vacation. The folks here made us feel very welcomed. Sporting clays and 5 stand courses shot. Challenging but very fair. Great prices on guns and ammo as well. Thanks Mr. Tom and staff for making our beach trip complete!! We shall return!!!

Just spent a few hours doing the sporting Clay's course. An absolute blast, five people having a great time shooting the clays around the 72 acre course. Excellent value for money, great staff...highly recommended. My first time shooting skeet/trap and it won't be the last at Shoal River Sporting Clays!
