Skyline WMA Firing Range

Q: My question is what if a person with a valid HE brings someone who does not have theirs yet can that person be allowed in as long as they are under the supervision of the HE?
A: That's a very good question and I do not know the answer sorry
- Jake Sharp (a year ago)

Nice covered pistol and rifle range. You do need a hunting license or at minimum the wildlife heritage license. Rifle range goes to about 200 yards.

It's awesome to have a local spot to shoot at me and the girlfriend frequently here! Always clean and quiet and perhaps one or two other shooters besides ourselves.

Shoot Skyline on a monthly basis. Wonderful range. Cement tables are a hazard to your weapons so make sure to bring table blanket and broom and dust pan to police spent rounds. 90% of shooters practice range safety and courtesy. I shoot indoors in Huntsville Al but nothing beats a outdoor range.

I started going to Skyline after Swan Creek got ruined, and while the drive is over an hour my experiences at Skyline has been pleasant. It's unmanned, not usually crowded, and the other shooters stick to themselves. Hopefully the state doesn't get any ideas to man Skyline and ruin the fun of no one bossing you around.

Have to bring your own targets and a laser range finder. But a good spot to go shoot.

Great firing range and very friendly game warden/staff working when I first tried the Skyline range last January of 2021. Pleasantly surprised with how inviting everyone seems around the Skyline WMA firing range. Recommend!

A nice range for sighting in firearms and casual target practice. Ranges from 25 to 200 yards. Paper targets only, Wildlife Heritage license required to shoot. Clean up after your self and policing your brass is required.

First time out in just over a year. Outstanding new shooting tables with adjustable stools. Overhead covers, well built and great looking. A huge thank you and job well done from this outdoorsman and several others who were using the facility today. 1 suggestion would be a couple more loads of gravel. It was very muddy 10 feet around the concrete pads due to the rains last night. Again thank you for this upgrade.

Place is small maybe 7 pistol stalls to 50y and same for rifle to 200y. Overall nice except nothing to put targets on... bring your own target stands. Lots of old brass laying around no one cleans up it seems

I prefer this range vs Swan Creek. There is a 50 yard, 200 yard and shotgun/clay pigeon shooting area. Almost every time I have been the other people shooting are pleasant. On 1-2 occasions I have ran into someone who gets upset when the shooting needs to stop to adjust targets etc.

The only reason this isn't a 5 star review is their closed season. They actually closed a week early this year (2016) for duck season. Several ranges, pistol range, 50 yd, 100 yd, and shotgun range. Plenty of parking and trash bins. Bins may not seem important until you've been to a public range without one.
