I have recently started skeet shooting again after a 15 year hiatus. I have been to a couple of the Fort Wayne area conservation clubs that have skeet shooting and trap shooting. Both of them suffer from very few days or opportunities to shoot and often when you show up they donΓÇÖt even have people to work so you end up going home and wasting the trip. As a result of this, I went to Saint Joe Valley conservation club because it came highly recommended by other skeet shooters. I arrived alone and told them that I had never been there before and I didnΓÇÖt have anybody to shoot with. They told me all you have to do is go out to specific numbered ranges and wait for a group to start a new round And ask to join. Again, I was welcomed warmly and everyone introduced themselves and we started a round. These guys were a lot of fun, a lot of good humor, and a lot of excellent advice and help on improving my game. One of the guys even offered for me to try his shotgun that I admired. That is the positive. Sadly, you have to be careful here, just like all the other conservation clubs. It is a 45 min drive for me to get here and I just wasted my time because I didn't KNOW that there was youth shooting special event going on today so none of the ranges are open. Why are all the ranges closed for a hunting club activity? I don't understand? Worse yet, how would you know? No website updates, no facebook posts to warn you, no signs the previous weekend warning you of the change of schedule, etc. The facilities and people are really nice, which is why I paid to become a member. Unfortunately, now, every time I think of shooting clays here I am going to have second thoughts due to the risks of arriving and finding out I wasted the trip.

Lots of room for parking, plenty of spots to camp with electric and water, lots of skeet fields and trap bunkers. Fun place to be!

Amazing facility. Volunteer members are extremely helpful. A few of the members (certified trainers) asked if they could help with my sons on our first venture to the club. They loan out high quality skeet and trap guns. They take special interest in teaching new and youth shooters. Only side note would be: if you plan to travel a decent distance to the club and you plan on arriving later in the afternoon, call ahead and let them know. If the club has no attendees early in the day, the volunteers sometimes close early.
