State Game Lands Number 203

Q: Where do you get a range permit
A: Online I believe they are approx 30$, I'm not sure how to actually go about that though on the DNR site. I just went to Dicks and bought a hunting license for 20$ which covers you at the range. You need to have it at all times at the range though.
- Dave (6 years ago)
A: online. costs $30 very easy.
- Jeff Johnston (6 years ago)
Q: Do I need to make a reservation or just roll up with my equipment and targets? I have the permit
A: No reservations, just show up. It does get busy on the weekends.
- Nunya Bidnis (4 years ago)
Q: As a new guest first time visiting the place, what is the usual processto use rifle range? I have already got the state game lands shooting permit
A: What yardage caein u shoot at
- Dale Weaver (a year ago)
A: There really is not a process. Nring your targets, stapler or push pins. Obey the rules and a have a good time.
- Jeff Walter (2 years ago)
Q: If you bought a range permit but havent gotten it yet can you still go and shoot?
A: Not sure. You're probably in the Game Commission database if the payment has been processed.
- Nunya Bidnis (5 years ago)
A: When buying a range permit the instructions online clearly say to print out the range permit right then and there and carry that with you to the range. The game warden that walks around from time to time checking permits, can't check right then to know if you are in the system or not and might hassle you. Why bother risking it
- C.S. S. (5 years ago)
Q: Is there bathrooms at the wexford range
A: Yes
- J S (5 years ago)
A: Rifle range has always has a wheelchair accessible Porta-Jon.
- Dave (5 years ago)
A: Yes there are porta potties
- C.S. S. (5 years ago)
Q: Is there a caliber limitation for this range? More specifically, are .50 Cal rifles allowed?
A: I hadn't been in a few years and a lot has changed. They have split everything into 2 separate ranges. One for handguns and one for rifles and shotguns. I didn't see any caliber limitations besides handguns only at the one and long guns at the other They are only a few hundred yards apart.
- ghettostricken (a year ago)
Q: can i use metal targets on rifle range ,22lr
A: No metal targets!
- Mark (2 months ago)
Q: Is it free to the public
A: If you have the proper hunting licenses yes. If you're interested in using the shooting ranges, you must buy a shooting range permit online (~$30, good for 1 calender year from date of purchase) and have it on you at all times while at the range. Best to print it out as soon as you purchase it because it may take up to 2 weeks for the durable license to come via mail.
- James Cahn (a year ago)
Q: Is there still a 6 round limit for rifles? Says nothing about that online under rules and regs. Looking to shoot ARs not deer rifles.
A: 6 rounds max
- spaz monkey (5 months ago)
Q: Isn't there a shooting range in Moon? If so does anyone have the info.? I saw it n can't find it now.
A: Yes I believe it's forest Grove gun club, but it has a 2 year?? Waiting list to possibly be a member.

The range is great for a public range on state game lands. Its about what youΓÇÖd expect. Target ranges are good. Lots of 100 yd stations for sighting in. Up top is a 25 yd and a 50 yd with a few stations each. Definitely bring a staple gun for your targets an maybe a large sheet of cardboard, as the backstops get pretty ripped up. Gripes: Theres always a few people there who treat it like a tactical range. Oh yes, you know the type. They came to dump magazines as fast as possible (regardless of the posted rules of the range!) from tactical guns (right before deer season while you try to sight in). ItΓÇÖs annoying regardless of how polite they are otherwise. Another gripe is that nobody picks up their shells. If they had better brooms and a few dustpans, that would help a lot. I also never have seen a misfire bin there (every range should have at least one per area in my opinion). Nobody monitors the range so rules never get enforced. They just seem to let people have their way there. This range would be better with A) a misfire bin (filled with the NRA diesel/dawn solution to deactivate primers), B) a few dustpans and better brooms, C) a little supervision to keep people safe and honest.

The range itself is fine but BEWARE the range officer! He will sit in bushes and stalk people waiting for them to shoot more than 6 bullets and start harassing people when they do! He smells terrible and will 100% try to start an argument/fight as soon as he starts talking to you! If you see any range officers LEAVE!

Not a bad range. My only beefs are that the PGC lets the target backstops get way too shot up before they replace them, the paths from the shooting benches to the targets are poorly maintained and muddy, and the range is poorly monitored.

I recently had the opportunity to visit the PA State Game Lands #203 Shooting Range, and while the facility itself is undoubtedly impressive, my experience was significantly tarnished by the warden's egregious behavior. The range's maintenance is commendable, making it an ideal location for honing one's marksmanship skills. Moreover, the annual fee of $35 is an exceptional value. However, the warden's unprofessional demeanor, argumentative nature, and propensity for fabricating rules on a whim overshadowed the range's positives. This blatant lack of consistency and transparency is not only disappointing but also fosters a frustrating and unpredictable environment. The warden's capricious behavior is a stark contrast to the facility's excellence, leaving me to wonder about the disparity between the two. Despite this, I would still recommend the range for its quality and value, but I strongly hope that the warden's behavior and management approach will undergo significant improvement to align with the facility's standards. #CuckBehavior

This is a very well laid out set up. Loved it. Parking not too far away. The benches standard. Be sure to bring a staple gun for target securing.

Love this place for the convenience, ease of access and affordability! You could go down the street to keystone for their indoor range but it costs $30 per 1 hr session. The game lands are $35 for an annual pass. Thats a steal. Or if you are a hunter then you pass covers you I. The game lands. No double dipping! I would usually justify my purchase even if I only went a few times a year so I don't too rusty. They used to one have a pass from July until June the following year no matter when you got your pass. This would deter me depending on what time.of year I was shooting. I have access to sportsman's clubs in the area. Now they honor your season pass 365 days from date of purchase. Depending on when you go in the day, week or season is dependent on how busy it will be. Usually it's no trouble getting a spot even when it's busy. The rangers do a fair bit of patrolling to keep the idiots at bay. Never bothered me any because I'm following the rules. I've heard they can be ball busters, but that has never been my experience. Happy to have a place like this to go to. I've even just run up there to trouble shoot some issues with my guns. Great place that I hope you will take advantage of.

Always a good range to practice shooting firearms. I have used this range for over a decade. Never had an issue. The best part of this location is that it is outside and worth $35 annually with the permit. Only suggestion I would add is a porta john & water fountain at the pistol range.

Had a great time! Great range to sight and practice with your firearm. Plenty of spots at 100 yards rifle range. However, there's a good wait for the other distances at the range and the pistol slots. Bring your safety equipment and targets. Be observant. Communicate. Will need a staple gun to secure paper targets. Buy your range permit. Sign in the book. Find a stall. Put on your safety equipment. Check and call out before posting your targets. Practice firearm safety and have a blast!

Five stars for the range it self. Nice range for being public. Four stars due to the inconsistency of etiquette and safety. You can tell a fair amount of shooters have little to no experience. I have flat out left before not worth getting shot. Super sonic snaps above you at the 100 yard range people dumping mags into the trees from the 25/50. I watched a young kid dump a pistol mag 3 feet behind and 2 feet away from his friends head. Mostly it is not this bad.

I go early in the morning and it's always very chill. There's usually only just a few other friendly folks safely enjoying some target shooting in the healthful outdoors. The facility is well kept. Only criticism is that the target backing is often blasted to smithereens, making it difficult to staple a target to. I wish they'd change them out more often.
