State Game Lands Number 242

Q: Can you fish the waters during archery?
A: Yes you can but you will need to be wearing a orange vest & hat while fishing
- ted x (2 years ago)
Q: Do you need to pay for shooting here
A: You are supposed to have a state hunting license. You can purchase a "range-only" hunting license at Walmart for around $25.
- Russ Stewart (a year ago)
A: Either hunting license or $32 annually for using PA public ranges.
- T Bogan (4 years ago)
A: Yes, you have to have a hunting license. You might be able to pay at $30 fee online.

Great clean area for some target practice. Thanks to all who use this place to keep it clean. Had a yellow jacket nest on one of the tables for the 25 yards. It's up to 6 rounds burst now. Before it was 3 rounds. We still do 3 rounds at a time. We have a blast every time. Make sure to take your staple gun here the backdrop doesn't support any sticky targets.

Nice range but no place to put the expended brass after you shoot. Only trash cans for paper targets

Nice shooting range with no crowd. A coffee point there would have been great.

Always in great shape, usually pretty easy to get a bench on non-holidays. Adequate benches for the rifle range. Pistol range gets backed up as everyone wants to shoot at the closest distance (I think it's 10 yards). They only have two backings up for the 10 yard pistol range. Parking lot is rather small, but manageable, and only really an issue around the holidays/hunting season when everyone. If they redesigned the pistol range a bit to offer mostly 7-10 yard distances with one 25+ yard target I think that would work out much better.

Hey for free as long as you have a current hunting license or fur takers license. Has its own pistol range on the right. And a rifle range on the left with 25 and 100 yard targets set up. So go check it out for yourself and leave your target practice experience on my page.

We go here for the outdoor gun range. Be sure to read the posted rules for safety and be sure you have a range permit or hunting license. The game wardens do stop by. Not a bad thing at all they just keep an eye on safety and look for rule breakers.

There are rules posted but usually no one there to enforce. Game Warden shows up on occasion. Everyone is usually friendly and respectful of others. No cost to use but you need a hunting license or be a guest of someone who does. Have never had any problems there. Normally not crowded, no waiting except every once in a while and just for a few minutes. It's very well kept and a nice use of state money.

Clean gun range. Set up nicely. I arrived on Monday of Christmas week at about 10am. Only one other shooter using the range at that time. Only complaint is that other shooters don't pick up spent shell casings very well. Please clean up after yourself to help keep a nice place staying nice.

I love this place. Unfortunately not many places left to hunt or shoot in this area so there is a lot of people.
