Questions & Answers

Q: I bought a preserve permit for a pheasant shoot in March 2019. I bought it on 3/15/19. Is it still good for the shoot we have set for 12/14/19?

A: Shooting preserve permits are valid from Sept. 1 through April 30th. If you bought one March 2019 you will need to purchase a new one for this season.

We had a terrific time at Sugar Creek. People were great, price reasonable. It helps that we shot a whole bunch of birds too. Guide (Gabe) was great, and the dog (Rudy) was fantastic. We were impressed that the dog kept a straight face anytime we shot and missed a bird. Remember in the NES game Duck Hunt, if you missed, the dog would pop up and laugh at you? Rudy never did that. A true professional. We loved the family atmosphere, and how everyone was so friendly. We will definitely be back!

Highly recommend Suagr Creek for pheasant and chukar. Yesterday was our second time hunting at Sugar Creek (last season was our first) and it has quickly become our favorite hunting preserve. Brian, his wife, and staff have all been super helpful and great people to hunt with. Yesterday Brent and his German Wirehaired Pointer ensured that we had a great morning in the field. Zero disappointments. So glad that we found Sugar Creek and expect to be visiting many times in the coming years. Thanks!

Great sporting clays course with targets for every skill level. The club house is where I would love to spend all of my Saturdays in the winter. Brian and Andrea always go out of their way to make sure everyone has a good experience

Had an awesome morning shoot. I think he puts steel birds in there because none of us could break any. I am sure we would have shot 100/100 if he didn't. Awesome scenery and great shots all over the course. 5 stand is fun too!

Second time weΓÇÖve done a pheasant hunt. First one was in Ohio last year. Comparison - NONE!! The way the folks at Sugar Creek set you up is about as real as it gets to a true hunting experience vs just harvesting birds at the other place. Gabe and his gigs were awesome!!! Great dude. This is our spot from here on out!!!! Fantastic experience.

Everyone is super nice and helpful, the surrounding area is very well kept and the sporting clays range was a great time. The only thing that might have been better was the fresh made pie!

Had a great quail hunt there. Owner was very accommodating and the gentleman who dropped my birds was super friendly and very knowledgeable concerning all things bird dogs and bird hunting. They placed me in a big open field which was perfect for working my two brittanies. There was snow on the ground, the dogs worked good and the birds flushed great. It was a great hunting experience and I hope to go back often.

Great time on our first pheasant farm hunt. Was honestly nervous about hunting a reserve, hearing some are excellent and some far from it. Sugar Creek seemed excellent. Our guide Kyle and his English Pointer Grace were professionals. Land seemed perfectly managed for birds - we hunted put-and-take pheasants but bumped into a couple coveys of wild quail along the way also. Think I heard it may be over 700 acres in all. They're healthy, fast flying, stocked birds but it's a "real hunt." We did the basic pheasant package with no special instructions and it was enough walking to make me ready for a nap (age 30) and enough to where my dad (age 61) opted to leave 2 of our 8 birds to "live another day." (We were able to flush all 8 birds but two flew too fast for our poor aim - our guide and his dog were more than willing to hunt longer in the day to flush them again, but we were satisfied and my dad's legs were growing weary). Overall a great memory I'll have with my dad, healthy fast flying birds, a friendly knowledgeable guide, a dog with one heck of a nose and unbelievable stamina, and a big ole' chunk of well-managed land. A great value and memorable experience.
