I went to the Gun Garage today to find a leveling kit to sight in my scope. I have a Mossberg Patriot 6.5 Creedmoor. I explained to the older gentleman behind the counter what I'm trying to do. Instead of just telling me that they didn't have any for sale, he was telling me how to level my scope to the upper receiver. I still had to explain that I don't have an AR platform multiple times. He still wasn't listening. He just went on and on about making sure that my upper and lower were in line. I just said thanks and left. Word of advice, a Mossberg Patriot is a bolt action typical hunting rifle. There's no lower and upper receiver. I go here a lot. After this, I'm going somewhere else and will very rarely come back. If they have no clue what to do, let alone listen to the customer, no need for me to go there as much anymore. The new management needs to kinda step it up to where the store was at. That's my only complaint. Other than that, they have almost what you need.

Fun staff if you're a guy, nice staff if you're a gal, and ranges are relatively in order. Only drawback is everything is expensive; guns, membership, range rounds...it's just more expensive than other places. You can rent the used guns.

Sometimes you just have such an amazing experience in a business you have to share. My teenage son has been wanting to try shooting so we went to the gun garage because I heard they had a nice range. We told them that he had never shot before and they sent over Gunner (his real name). He patiently walked us through the how to of how to hold it and how to stand and where to look, etc. Then helped us out with the targets and ammo and everything explaining the differences between the different pistols we were shooting. It was amazing. My son was beaming. Of course we had to sign up for the membership because we will definitely be back. 😊

I had my first-ever experience renting a gun at Gun Garage, and it was fantastic! The staff was incredibly helpful and kind. Special thanks to Gunner, who made the experience enjoyable and informative. He patiently taught us the basics of shooting, gave valuable tips, and stayed with us throughout the session, helping us aim better. His kindness and guidance made a big difference, and I left feeling more confident. Highly recommend Gun Garage, especially if youΓÇÖre new to shooting!

IΓÇÖm giving a 5-star rating for the employee, Austin H! My mother in law needed assistance with a piece she previously purchased at this location about a year and a half ago. She had a jam and needed help clearing it and needed guidance on how to properly clean her piece. From the moment we walked in, Austin H. was the only person who greeted us and assisted us. He was very knowledgeable in what we needed and even cleaned the piece and walked my MIL through the process. Austin was confident in what he was suggesting and even convinced her to make a purchase of multiple items. I can say Austin H. went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and gave us his entire undivided attention to make sure that we were satisfied with what we came in for and more. Thank you again Austin, as we will visit again soon in hopes to have you as our guide through our next purchase(s)! The shop itself was neat, clean, and organized.

If you plan on using their shooting range, I would call ahead. Just drove an hour and a half out to this place, waited around the counter for like 20 minutes for one of the employees to finally ask me if I need something. I answered "I would like to use your pistol range" and he replied with "Nope, it's down". I read the website and it says both ranges are open, that's false advertisement. I just wasted gas and an hour and a half of my Thursday for nothing. Also didn't help that their customer service is absolutely garbage. No sympathy for the situation, just short quick responses like he just didn't want to deal with anything, like he didn't want to do his job. The lack of respect from them is very unprofessional. Go at your own risk, I would not recommend the gun garage of Lawrence KS for your needs.

My husband and I purchased a gun at the Gun Garage about a year ago. Gunner helped us choose the one that best fit our needs for home defense. Since then, weΓÇÖve both been taking lessons from him. We really appreciate his expertise & patience. We learn something helpful every time weΓÇÖre with him. Forty-five minutes goes by pretty fast though, especially since he has to set up our targets with shirts on them several times. He does that to make our point of aim be more realistic since people donΓÇÖt have targets on their chests. We like how well stocked the store is too. Every time weΓÇÖve had an issue, Gunner had a solution and the store had it in stock. We really enjoy our gun, Gunner and the Gun Garage.

Can't really recommend. The prices are extremely high compared to a plethora of online retailers, especially for accessories and ammunition, and the staff are borderline unhelpful. Their stock of firearms is biased towards the low end, as well. I came in a while ago to purchase a firearm, I simply wanted a simplistic 12ga shotgun. One of the staff there was initially very helpful, and receptive to me picking out a Mossberg Maverick 88, at the (high) price of $380, tax not included. I'm a skinny guy, and this (rotund) individual doubted my ability to handle the recoil from a 12ga shotgun. I've been shooting shotguns my entire life. I learned to shoot a Remington 870 when I was 11. I'm not sure what rocks this guy is smoking, but 12ga isn't as bad as he thinks it is. So this individual, who most likely got very used to talking down to others and not getting pushback from them in the military, put a 18 gauge Turkish made shotgun in my hands, and said that'd be the one for me. This shotgun had a pump action that felt like dragging a grand piano across a gravel beach, and was very cheaply made, though it was nearly the same price. Interesting. Abridging this long story, this staff member laughed in my face, and I had to stand around and wait for someone else to help me with my transaction once they walked off to "give me time to think." Though I ended up purchasing my Maverick 88 from them, that will be the last time I look their direction for firearm related transactions.

It's disappointing how the new owner has driven the Gun Garage into the ground so quickly. I've been a member of the range since 2018 so I've seen a few changes and a lot of employees come and go during that time; some of the changes were good, some bad, some of the employees I hated to see go, some I was happy to see leave. But the store has gone down in quality over the past six months and what was a laid-back and enjoyable atmosphere has turned into a place where I feel uncomfortable. I'm retired so I'm able to use the range a few times a week, and the store used to be an upbeat place to walk into but now employees are sitting down and ignoring customers, especially the new guys (one of whom is a creepy weirdo that I recognize from a local pawn shop) and they all seem to be in bad moods. Things weren't this bad during covid. I typically purchase at least two or three guns per year so I always check out what they've got either before or after I shoot and the store inventory has seriously gone down in quality since the new owner took over. It really is a shame what's become of the Gun Garage. They're the only public shooting range in the area so I'll keep going since there's no other option but if there was someplace else to go I wouldn't go back.
