The Homestead School of Shooting

Excellent, welcoming and knowledgeable staff/trappers. Just really nice folks that want to make your experience a great one. Open to all skill levels, the sporting clays course is excellent and a lot of fun even if you've never done it before. They have everything you need, just make a reservation. The Shooting Club is a gem at The Homestead.

Had an appointment at 2pm to learn how to shoot with family. It was our top activity. We arrived early excited to learn. The guy behind the counter confirmed our appt and we signed waivers. Then, we watched the two groups that arrived on the bus with us leave with instructors, while we just sat there. The guy behind the counter then left too and he left us alone in the store. We sat there for an hour with their dog alone in that store. In that hour with the dog, we cleaned up dog barf, pulled a broken target out of the dogs mouth, watched the dog fish the couch cushion and pull out a dime to eat. I got the dime out of the dogs mouth and placed it on their counter. Then it started raining as the other groups came back at 3pm. They did offer other times to come back to shoot(we had other things schedule), however they offered no apology or discount for their failure. I think they at least owed us for not honoring time, dog sitting and trapping us in a store without someone still in the store that could call us a shuttle when we realized they were going to be an hour late instead of a few minutes late. At least the dog was well taken care of in that time.

We did the sporting clays course in the woods with Don. He was very knowledgeable and patient and a good instructor for me and my daughter, who are novices. My husband is more experienced and the course had something fun for each of us. Also, we loved meeting DonΓÇÖs puppy, Josie, who is a Very Good Girl.

First time doing sporting clays and had a blast here! Travis is awesome - he helped us through the course with great tips and guidance. The club has loaner shotguns or you can bring your own. Used a 20g, 100 targets. 10 stations, 5 pairs at each. Course is shaded in the woods. Definitely recommend. I look forward to coming back the next time I stay at The Homestead!

This range is affiliated with The Homestead. Which means it's NOT inexpensive, but that said it's still a good value. My family of 5, including one as young as 9 spent 1.5 hours shooting skeet (including, essentially one trap). There is a flat fee, and then basically an ammo fee. The course was nicely laid out with lots of shelter. You do need earplugs in case someone else is next to you, but they do a great job supplying plugs, safety glasses and guns/ammo. The instructor was great. He gave great tips, made sure everyone was safe, could shoot safely, and walked the kids through everything very professionally and competently. Again the only reason why it's not 5-stars is relative to the cost, which while not excessive, can mount up (I blame this more on corporate gouging by the Homestead than the actual shooting school). I'd recommend it!

Great gun club. Friendly, patient staff with excellent teaching skills (safe too). The skeet ranges are the swankiest I've ever seen, with log cabin style houses. Super nice clubhouse too. With skeet, trap, 5 stand and two sporting clays courses you will enjoy this club.

Excellent with great instructors. Tried skeet shooting (first time with a shotgun) and .22 rifle. Instructor with the skeet was excellent and put us at ease. Managed to snag over 50% of targets. The .22 was a lot of fun for all of us involved. Good prices. Highly recommended
