The Machine Gun Nest

Q: 🤔🗣What's the price $ to rent the range lane if you already have your own fire arm? And ammo ¿?=
A: Right now it's $25 for the first shooter and $15 for the second if you're bringing someone.
- Chris L (8 months ago)
Q: Can I fire rounds with steel in them at this facility?
A: No, but there's an outdoor range open to the public on sundays near here where you can shoot steel core ammo.
- Chris L (3 years ago)
Q: Can I bring my p80 g19 there?
A: You can!
- The Machine Gun Nest (3 years ago)
Q: How can I buy gift cards.
A: Gift cards can be purchased at the shop!
- The Machine Gun Nest (2 years ago)
A: Best gift. You are truly the best Santa ever
- Joe Ostrander (2 years ago)
Q: Can out of state shooters use your range? With their own rifle?
A: Absolutely! Just check with state transporting laws on how to do legally.
- The Machine Gun Nest (2 years ago)
Q: Can I shoot a 22/250 at machine gun nest?
A: I shot a .50BMG there no problem. I think the only rules are that you control your weapon, and hit only paper and backstop. I never saw any limits on specific ammo. This is why I went there. Its a 90 min drive for me on a good day, and its worth the drive.

A: Thanks David D

Q: How expensive is 9mm ammo? Or the 308. Ammo? For rental
A: Fair price. They won't price gouge
- Adam Pierce (5 years ago)
A: Thanks for reaching out! At this time, a standard 50 round box of brass FMJ 9MM Ammo usually goes for $16/box. (We have bulk options available for sale right now too!) For .308, we have steel cased ammo or brass cased ammo. Steel starts at $8/box of 20 rounds and brass around $24/box
- The Machine Gun Nest (5 years ago)
A: Typical brick and mortar store pricing on the ammo.
- Shark Nest (5 years ago)
A: See answer from TMGN (Owner) Below. He has the most accurate answer to your question.
- David Browning (5 years ago)
Q: New to guns, what do you suggest for me, handgun, rifle?
A: Rifles are far easier to shoot accurately. Good way to build confidence in a new hobby, but you'll find yourself wanting to take longer shots in no time. Check out the Ruger 10/22, they're affordable & extremely customizable. If you want a pistol, don't be discouraged if you're not a great shot right away.. it's more challenging. Consider a few intro classes to learn the basics of safety & range etiquette. You can't go wrong with a glock 17 or 19.
- Bobby Gollan (7 years ago)
A: Personally, I find rifles to be easier. AR-15 would probably be a good platform to start on
- Nick Tompkins (7 years ago)
A: Start with a smaller caliber like .22 and work your way up.
- Christopher Schneider (7 years ago)
A: Both are good for beginners. Handguns will usually be cheaper in terms of rental and ammo costs.
- KIHome Madaras (7 years ago)
Q: Do you guys carry a 240B or a 249?
A: We have a 249 for rent. However with any machine gun, they require on going maintenance. I recommend calling the shop before going out to make sure it will be available that day.
- The Machine Gun Nest (2 years ago)
Q: Do you any Ar for 22 lr to rent?
A: We do!

Amazing place! We were staying in DC as British tourists, the guys were top lads, they helped us out with instructions when we needed them. Great range of guns, safety was top priority, Evan was great helping us out and itΓÇÖs great that they offer full auto - they will guide you and support you with this if you havenΓÇÖt done it before. The staff were really friendly and kind and even let us fire their own guns too! Great experience for a friends birthday.

The lanes are really tight, and the tables don't have a lot of room to place items down on. A lot of inexperienced shooters (and that's OK) go here but it really concerns me sometimes when they're shooting right next to me after hearing about certain incidents. It's a really small range. You can rent numerous guns, including full auto ones, which is cool. After shooting at an outdoor range, I liked this placed because of convenience, but if you go when it's busy it's kind of stressful.

Nice place, they got an indoor range. Staff are helpful. Plenty of options, just need to improve the prices. IΓÇÖve seen plenty of nice deals elsewhere other than that the place is fantastic and definitely worth visiting.

Went for my birthday to treat myself and rented their full auto ak and mp5 bought 5 30 round magazines for each to shoot with it. They only filled each magazine to at least 15 rounds even tho I was charged full price i checked and was able to sink my entire finger middle finger into the magazine as they where not full also they never even mentioned they do this either. Felt riped off on my birthday too non the less. That's rude/shady af. Will not return!

The Machine Gun Nest is the only place in the DMV I come to. The place is always clean, the environment is always positive, and the facility is top notch. They have fully-autos to rent, a blast when you want to celebrate a birthday, bachelor or bachelorette party, or simply want to want to try something new. They have member hours in the morning and are open to the public for the afternoon. That being said, I have been a part of the general public and a member and the staff treats everyone with respect. They are professional and extremely knowledgeable and at the same time will sit and chat with you about any firearm topic. IΓÇÖve brought experienced and beginner shooters and they always make everyone feel welcome and safe. This is the most important aspect of the place, the customer service. ItΓÇÖs essential to educate people on firearms and when a new shooter comes in, they need to feel safe and comfortable. ThatΓÇÖs whatΓÇÖs important for the community and getting new people to feel comfortable with firearms and understanding them better. ThatΓÇÖs why the MGN is the ONLY place for me to go to shooting!!! Also, shout out to Tony whoΓÇÖs worked there for years and is one of the best staff in there (they all are of course). They do an excellent job with time management on the lanes and get people in and out quickly without rushing them. They give you a friendly reminder 10 min before your time is up and the range officers are always professional while being kind. I canΓÇÖt say enough about the ROs there as they donΓÇÖt yell at anyone for making a mistake but are firm and fair when enforcing the rules to keep everyone safe. 5/5 stars recommend this place!!!

My girlfriend bought a fireman from machine gun nest website. It took three weeks plus to arrive at the store and we went to pick it up. We were told there were additional steps needed before the firearm could be release to her. She decided she was already tired of waiting and wasnΓÇÖt interested in waiting additional months. She asked for a refund and bought a different firearm that day and left with it. Since then about two months now and still no refund. We call multiple times and sent multiple emails and spoke to a few supervisors. WeΓÇÖve been told so many times ΓÇ£yes I will look into it and get back to youΓÇ¥ give me a few days several times. No one has yet to call or email us about our money two months now. The answer service that plays as a middleman will flat out tell you no one is available to talk. We never held the fireman we never saw the fireman and it was never in our possession. Two months plus and still no refund or any information about our $1169.17 purchase that we never laid eyes and at the point itΓÇÖs starting to feel like they stole our money. I donΓÇÖt know what else to say and how can I feel any different itΓÇÖs pretty sad customer service. After all the money IΓÇÖve spent there in the past this is how the treat a customer. IΓÇÖm adding this update to my review todayΓÇÖs date is 12-28-24. After a few hours of my original review I was contacted by I really donΓÇÖt know who. A manager or maybe the owners wife? No title just a name. I wouldnΓÇÖt mention her name out of decency but her email was short and brief. Again I was promised results and again days after she contacted me nothing! These people just doesnΓÇÖt care about anything accepted your money. No one can justify to me why I canΓÇÖt get refunded for a purchase I havenΓÇÖt touched or even seen. ItΓÇÖs almost 90 days in and MACHINE GUN NEST still have my money and no sings of anything changing. In other circumstances this would be considered a theft or a fraud. Either way it seems I will have to try other avenues of getting my refund. These people are hard press for a dollar so be careful doing business with the MACHINE GUN NEST.

Great place to practice and purchase. I've been a member for 3 years now. The regulars are great and share knowledge. It can get a little hectic on the weekends and evenings as they do rent out fully auto firearms.

The staff is polite and friendly as well as professional, and there is a wide selection of good quality guns. I am still rating one star based of the flags present inside the building, some of which are associated with far-right, Christian-nationalism. I can not, in good conscience, continue to give my business to a company that so brazenly display anti-democratic and anti-American sentiments.

The ultimate stress reliever. Everyone there were really nice and Steven professionally gave us a crash course using dummy guns before we entered the range. I was a tad intimidated at first because I never shot anything but once I did I was immediately hooked 👀. Fun fun fun!!

Steven was amazing. This was our first stop for a bachelor party (9 of us) before going to Deep Creek. Steven took care of us and ensured we all had a great time, a ton of laughs, and all while being safe. I can't say enough about this place. Definitely going back again! Next time, we do the 50 cal!
