Q: Does it matter what kind of caliber rifle or pistols you use to fire at this range

A: I've seen all kinds of guns including Barret .50 cal being shot here. Just make sure you use the proper gun at the proper ranges. There are pistol and rifle ranges. The only thing they get picky about is where you're shooting buckshot out of a shotgun and how high up and how close your target is if your rifle scope has not been sighted in yet.

Well I have been there several times and have had good and bad experience's . ItΓÇÖs a matter of who is the RO for the day and if you look like your a competent shooter and know your way around the range there which will dictate how they are going to treat you . If your a newbie you might want to skip this one as theywill ride your butt here . But if your a experienced shooter and have been here before and know how it all works where to go to get your target stands when to set them up etc and which range to go to you will be fine . You also need to know the range rules and know them well . If not your gonna have a bad day and may as well go some place else. IΓÇÖd say if your experienced with outdoor ranges and have.been here several times you will be fine just introduce your self to the Range officer and go from there .

There are so many amazing memories of coming out here with my dad. Thomas Fuzz Ferruzza. Our great friends like Otis Michael Brady and John Beecham. Friendly RSO's who will ensure safety. Outdoor range bring mosquito spray, targets, drinks and ammo!

Really depends on who you get. The younger RO's are good. As of 4/28/24 they have had a good RO working the weekends. The old fudds are terrible. Had one old RO tell me I couldn't leave my rifle on a bipod on cold range "because the muzzle was facing over the berm" meanwhile in the next lane some guy with a lever gun has his proped up on a riser and the muzzle is sticking up 45 degrees and he says nothing. This tells me he's just another of many clowns in this world who get some perceived 'authority' and just want to feel important. Maybe they just get mad when they see me pull HK rifles out worth several thousands of dollars with quality optics unlike their fudd guns with tasco scopes.

The RSOΓÇÖs here are a joke. I have gone to this range a handful of times and every time itΓÇÖs a negative experience. I always tell myself maybe the RSO working the range that day was just having a bad day so I would give it another shot. Nope! every single time itΓÇÖs been bad. I have brought family and friends with me to shoot here and we all agree the RSOΓÇÖs make it a miserable experience. DonΓÇÖt waste your money. Take the drive to Cocoa and visit Pint and Pistol or go to Strickland Shooting Range in Daytona. Both ranges are a lot cleaner and the RSOΓÇÖs are very professional.

Likely my last time here. They've started charging women to shoot, which is fine and all, but they've never charged before, and they didn't have a notice or a post up that said it before we pulled up. It's a rather long drive for me to get here, and it's just not worth it for $15 per person and the only bathrooms are port-a-potties

First time at this outdoor range. Great experience and amazing staff. No one answers the emails and no phone number to call but they are there and open to the public. $15 a person. Bring everything with you including a stapler.

I've been to this range for years and I've had a mix of good and bad experiences. I've met friendly staff who are helpful and even helped me sight. I've had great conversations with RO's talking about different platforms, complimenting different builds etc. So its not all bad, however... the good does not outweigh the bad. The Bad: They continually change the rules without notice. I've seen more heated arguments where the RO's turn into drill instructors when confusion erupts from lack of clarity, consistency, and implementation of rules. I even had the RO's contradict rules that are written on their web page. The biggest issue I had was a RO went directly to their side arm when I was conducting a basic pistol drill and screamed not to "rapid fire". I had a cadence to my drill and was not rapid firing. When I saw the RO had her hand on the pistol I immediately put mine down, hands up, and backed up and calmly and explained I wasn't rapid firing. The RO became more aggressive at this point and even unlocked their pistol in the holster, saying I was being confrontational. I got the hint, don't explain yourself, she's in charge. I signed a waver after all. I had a couple friends with me who said she had been yelling at me but I have hearing protection on and guns are loud, so I couldn't hear her. That's when she went to her sidearm. After a moment she knew I wasn't a threat and things eventually calmed down. My friends and I finished up our ammo, taking our time not to build up a cadence so as not to "rapid fire". I even de-escalated things further by making small talk with the RO and we even found ourselves laughing in the conversation. So a happy ending. Yay... It also helps to understand why the range is like this. It mainly stems from a restaurant being located south of the public range. They've had reports of rounds damaging property from the stray rounds. To that end, its cheaper just to yell at everyone then to actually fix a bad range design. I've also had RO's tell me they're volunteers, not staff. They're basically members who help out with the operations of the range. To that end I've had ranges close early because a RO didn't feel like showing up or the current RO doesn't feel like finishing up a shift. They just want to go home and be in the A/C and I don't blame them. So with all the bad, I cannot recommend this range to anyone. It is not worth getting screamed at and I am not going to get shot for unclear rules that change on the whims of staff (volunteers) who are seemingly itching for a fight when things go sideways from bad range design and lack of standards.

Staff are rude and will not leave you alone but also are not helpful with correcting anything. Super unprofessional. Look elsewhere to go shooting

My second experience at an outdoor range. I have owned rifles in the past, and recently purchased a brand new Ruger 308 American, my intent was to go to the range and boresight the gun and further dial in the optics and tighten my group. I donΓÇÖt know the name of attending officer in charge, but can only say he was about the rudest individual in dire need of an attitude adjustment that I ever met. Very disrespectful and something of an egomaniac. I understand the importance of rules at a gun range , but if you want support for your facility, you might want to focus a bit more on people skills. I plan to return one more time ( thinking maybe the guy was just having a bad day ) , and will pay close attention to the rules posted at the gate ( no pamphlet provided ) , but wonΓÇÖt tolerate disrespect of any kind ( and no one should have to ) . Happy shooting

IΓÇÖve been here about 10 times. I drive all the way from Winter Park. IΓÇÖve seen some negative comments about the Range Officers, but IΓÇÖve only had one negative experience with one. The other RSO apologized to me because that guy was being a jerk. Out of ten visits, encountering 3 RSOΓÇÖs each visit, IΓÇÖve only had one guy act a little rough. I think the guys are great, and they are very welcoming. This is my secret getaway when I need some alone time. I love the long drive through the back roads.

I love going there and practicing shooting. They are firm about the rules but never rude. They make it a pleasant experience and the price is right.

Super disappointed. This was the first time we had ever been to this range, and it was not a great experience. Checked in at the front gate, signed the check-in form and liability form and received no direction on where to go or what to do, other than to "go over there" and were pointed in the direction of the pistol ranges. We didn't see any other staff, until about 30 minutes in when someone came by and told us to be careful of not shooting too low to prevent the bullets bouncing into the fish camp past the range. Still didn't see any other staff until an employee in orange came and told us we were in a "Members Only" area and that we were supposed to have checked in at the other pistol range area. We tried to explain that we were not given any detailed instructions and that it was our first time, but the staff member was really rude and told us that we must have just misunderstood because he knew the guy at the front gate "really well". We decided to go shooting at the rifle range as well, and still didn't get any detailed instructions. Just saw another employee who told us to just bring our gun over to the range when we asked about price and such since there was a sign indicating there was a fee to use the rifle range. I don't see how this range is worth a $150 membership fee. It was embarrassing to be treated so rudely and for the staff to be so condescending. We love to go shooting, but probably won't return to this range.

The hours are awful, staff is worse. It's full of AARP members that have no desire to appeal to anyone other than the old geezer crowd that thinks rifles should have wood and ARs shouldn't be owned by civilians.

James Brooks must not like Veterans. He denied my son, Active Duty Marine use of range to shoot a balloon for a family oriented gender reveal. Up front in email I asked him to call me. He chose to communicate only by email. He clearly doesn't respect honest people and repeatedly tried to make us a bunch of hoodlums wanting to shoot explosives and drink alcohol! Shameful, I am the Past President of the Military Officers Association of America Cape Canaveral Chapter, an Endowment Member of the NRA! His bias and prejudice was clearly displayed. SAD.

our family loves to go here and are always treated with courtesy. We like to take our vintage rifles and shotguns here, and even get a few tips for some beginners in our party from one of the instructors at no charge. The women always shoot for free. ItΓÇÖs a great outdoor range but at certain times of the year you are most definitely going to need mosquito spray.
