Nice range available to everyone with great views on the drive up.

The drive and location is cool! Getting to an open spot really depends on what time and weather you’re going to. Might not want to take your pretty car, dirt road has a lot of craters lol Overall, the range is decent.. view is pretty.. Some people litter around the range (aside from empty shells) 😅 The gap between spots are decent as well

Great spot, people are respectful of your space/privacy. Not too crowded. Make sure you have 4WD the trails can get gnarly the further up you go especially if there is snow on the ground.

The drive to the lanes can be pretty rough, and the place is always packed. Be careful how far down range you place targets. I've had some close calls.

Love the place gotta get there at a certain time or you will be waiting for a spot . Other than the big ol pot holes itΓÇÖs amazing . Only thing I didnΓÇÖt like is the weird guy who walks from range lane to range creeping around seeing if he could steal stuff from your car ΓÇ£random guyΓÇ¥ but we notice the guy before hand it was a white heavy set male . Red neck looking kind of guy. Just be mindful of your surroundings. Only happened once other then that itΓÇÖs a cool as place to go with your friends .

The fact we have a place like this to shoot in such a beautiful area and so much space is 5 stars by itself. I wish people didnΓÇÖt bring junk out there to shoot or at least cleaned up after themselves. YouΓÇÖd expect shell casings and used targets but thereΓÇÖs a lot of empty beer cans and food containers scattered on the ground where youΓÇÖd shoot from, which is the saddest part of such a great place weΓÇÖre fortunate to have

This place used to be a great place to shoot. Now unless you have a giant truck you canΓÇÖt get back far enough and all of the people that can get back there stays at the front of the range. It would be nice to let those who canΓÇÖt go that far back to at least have one of the first spots out there.

Check Douglas County Sheriff web page for fire restrictions before driving out there. They close the gate for Stage 2 restrictions. Minus one star because people can't clean up after themselves.

Sheriff said the ranges are closed until December. People need to clean up after themselves. Decent ranges but the trash is terrible.

Great shooting area, but I guess some people who come here are ruining it, because there was so much trash in the area. I was able to fill a contractor bag with other people's trash in just my shooting lane and there was still so much left. It's sad that a few people can ruin something for everyone else.

It's nice that there's a free shooting range, but there are also 5 to 10 fires per year due to target shooting, according to the fire departments that respond, and lots of trash. It's only a mile or two from houses in multiple directions, in an area where homes were lost due to one of the bigger burns in recorded Colorado history. This is why we can't have nice things, free, sadly.

The lanes need a good cleaning but that's at the fault of the lazy people who go out there and leave their trash. It is a good place to practice

Great range, a bit polluted and busy on weekends.

ItΓÇÖs a great place to get out and shoot whatever you want at whatever you want. It is a bit littered with the inconsiderate folks leftover targets and such but if you take pride in your state and having places like this to enjoy your weaponry and practice your skills, youΓÇÖll make it a point to clean up after yourself. This picture is one of the ranges we prefer and we able to achieve 350 yards shooting a metal target we walked out there. I love it there.

Awesome shooting range. I didnΓÇÖt know what to expect because it was my first time there. I initially thought it was a small shooting area but as I got closer I realized that there are actually ΓÇ£shooting lanesΓÇ¥ as you drive down the road. So it was much bigger than I thought. In some areas you would want higher clearance vehicles as the road can get a little rough. There is about 50-70 yards in between each ΓÇ£laneΓÇ¥ which was really nice because you had some privacy and could practice long distance, close range and not worry about needing to place targets and having other people shooting down your lane. Therefore you could practice moving and shooting and other drills you may want to do

Wild West out there. Trash everywhere and people shooting irresponsibly.

Rough drive up to each designated shooting area. 4WD and no low riding vehicles are needed. People should be cleaning up after themselves but don't. It's a bit messy.

Unfortunately, shooters have ruined this place by not being able to pick up trash and items they've shot for targets. More shotgun shells than I've ever seen just laying on the ground. Y'all suck! I can't believe the National Forest Service hasn't shut it down yet.If you don't have 4wd, don't bother going because the roads suck.

Great place to go. Been going for years. Unfortunately, the maddening crowd of goons have found out about it and they are all up there at 7 am sharp with their crew with plate carriers and night vision goggles. You better be up there early if you want a spot that's not too far up the trail.

Roads get more rutted out as the years go by. People like to shoot in directions they should not be. But the spots you can setup are just amazing.

I visited this popular free public outdoor shooting range and was impressed by its constant availability and popularity during weekends. However, the proximity of campsites about 10 to 15 minutes away emphasizes the need for respectful behavior after 11:00 PM. It's disheartening to witness the abundance of trash left behind, highlighting the importance of responsible outdoor practices. As a fellow nature enthusiast, I urge everyone, from shooting and camping to fishing enthusiasts, to ensure they pack out their trash! I always carry extra bags for others' litter. Safety with firearms is paramount, as accidents and negligence have led to the closure of such places in the past. The road might be a bit challenging, so having a high clearance vehicle like a truck or jeep is advisable for the journey.

Nice views. You will need a vehicle with good ground clearance to get up the trails comfortably but I seen a mini cooper once way up the left trail. Pick up your trash when you are done is the only request.

Very popular on the weekends, sometimes no spots available. It's sad to see all of the junk left behind by shooters.
