Q: Were there activities on 11/07/20 that could sound like an all out war w/ explosions n all? I ask cuz from Deltona Walmart it sounded like that n this is the closest range. I was hoping this came from the safety of a range so did it come from yours?

A: Sorry to inform you that we are located a little over 10 miles from that location. What you heard had to be somewhere close by your location. If you are concerned enough to communicate with us, we would recommend calling the local LE dept and see if any events took place close to the Walmart. As on these times we all should be cautious and vigilant. - Michael Sharkey (6 years ago)

Q: what are range distances

A: Longest on Rifle Range is 300 yards if you are a member they have a 1000 yard long range you can access by request that not a part of regular range and pistol range up to 50 yards.

- M j (3 years ago)

A: Why must members pay 50$ extra to enjoy 300 yards and longer.... after examining the layout on line of the LD range it's all the same range... many shooters would love to use this range.... but paying extra and the drive from lakeland, polk county, and other areas in the south doesn't seem fair... ranges have become extremely expensive to practice and enjoy ... Jtach. Very unsafe ....

- Tommy Cruz (3 years ago)

A: The 900 yard range requires a different set of range rules and responsibilities. We have to staff the range with Long Range Qualified Rangemasters. All persons using the 900 yard range are required to qualify and demonstrate knowledge of the procedures to shoot that distance. If you have any further questions or concerns, feel free to contact me at 386.301.7881 between the hours of 0900 and 1700 for any clarification.

VCGHC is a member only (some public range day exceptions) range that facilitates in the shooting sports. No shotgun courses unlike other ranges in the region but definitely suited for the sport. I've been a member for 3 years and enjoyed bringing friends, family, coworkers for the sake of the sport and our right for the 2nd Amendment. Great place to be. Would recommend to anyone. Range Officers are great, some are stricter than others but they leave you alone for the most part if you exhibit proficiency. Only con would be no proper bathroom aside from the porta potty.

a bunch of Old GI JOEs pretending to be on an ARMY base...run the place... there is no real store, to shoot, one must manually make and put up his own targets...they give you old splintered wood to do so yet its a time consuming hassle....... , they do have a pistol range with ready targets..... the place is usually dead empty on weekdays... many unnnecesary rules enforced by safety officers who still think they are in Vietnam... Not a pleasant place.

Valortec’s Night Fire Class taught by Herfel & Carlos is a must do training experience for anyone interested in improving their skills in a challenging environ (the dark). This class is fast paced and full of good information - eat a good meal before as you will easily burn off the calories. And don’t forget plenty of water to stay hydrated! This class builds on Valortec’s Self Defense Fundamentals class; expect to get a refresher on some skills while learning new skills. Learning to shoot with no lights, with the pistol mounted light, with a handheld light all on a pitch black night. Doing a wound check while reloading, etc… . You will learn all this and more - safely and on a really good range. (Kudos to the Range Safety Officer !!) As to equipment - make sure you buy your holster and pistol light with plenty of time to practice drawing & holstering with the combo before class. For your handheld light - go for a model that hits the high beam first (or only has a high beam). Having a headlamp (for breaks, reloading spent mags, etc…) and extra batteries for all your lights is helpful. Mag pouches should be set up so you can reach some of them with either hand for a reload. A tourniquet and a first aid kit is always a good idea on any range too. If you are serious about improving your shooting skills and enjoy a challenging class then Valortec’s Night Fire is for you. I look forward to more training with this school.

It was my first outdoor range and the RSOs here were very helpful and friendly. The location was also very convenient and nearby for me. Reasonable price for an open day and a lot of varied distances for both rifle and pistol. Bring cash if you're going to pay. Would recommend if you need to practice long distance shooting.

After taking multiple classes at Volusia County Gun Club, I can say Herfel and the Valortec team are the main reason I go to Volusia County Gun Club and even became a member. Thanks to their curriculum is the sole reason why I have the competence and the confidence to defend my life and the life of my loved ones with a firearm. The team goes above and beyond when it comes to safety! The instructors at Valortec are licensed educators and itΓÇÖs obvious they pride themselves on teaching proper technique and the ΓÇ£whyΓÇ¥ behind said technique. I am naturally curious and want to know the ΓÇ£whyΓÇ¥ behind what IΓÇÖm being taught. This is exactly what Valortec offers and I have not experienced that elsewhere. I recommend these classes to those who are serious about improving their skill and competency with their firearm as a self defense tool. Self Defense Fundamentals and Low Viz /Night Fire are a MUST! Can't recommend it enough.

I cannot recommend Sig Sauer Academy highly enough! The instructors are truly outstandingΓÇöknowledgeable, professional, and incredibly patient. They took the time to tailor their approach to each participantΓÇÖs skill level, ensuring everyone felt comfortable and confident throughout the training. The lesson plan was exceptional and far exceeded my expectations. It was well-structured, blending theory and hands-on practice seamlessly. Each session built on the last, and by the end, I felt I had a solid foundation and practical skills I could rely on. The emphasis on safety, situational awareness, and proper technique made this course invaluable. Whether youΓÇÖre a beginner or looking to refine your skills, this training program is top-notch. The instructorsΓÇÖ dedication and expertise truly set them apart. IΓÇÖll definitely be returning for advanced courses!

Been a member now for over a year now and my personal rating would be 4.5 stars, almost an absolute dream range for any gun enthusiest and by far the best range in the area. THE GOOD: -Private Bays: immaculately kept and, provided the RSOs know you're not brand new to shooting, you are genuinely left alone in peace. You can shoot both rifles and pistols here which I appreciate. Set up your own targets and you're completely blocked off from the bay next to you by a tall dirt berm. -Rifle Bar: the regular bar goes out to just over 300yrds with it's farthest berm, with berms at 50, 100, and 200yrds. They also have a much longer precision rifle range that goes out to just over 900 yrds, but isn't accessible to regular members until you purchase thier long-range shooting class. The regulars here are genuienly friendly and helpful when they aren't shooting guns with obnoxious muzzle brakes 8ft away from you. -Steel Shooting: the World of Steel is a shooting area pre-setup with many different hung plates of steel that they charge a small fee to shoot at and you are also allowed to bring your own steel to set up in the private bays for free, I like that I have the flexibility to choose either when I come. -Gorka and Maureen: the interactions I've had with these too have been nothing, but positive. Gorka, the owner, is always seemingly on property, doing some kind of work and when you call the business number for VGC, it goes directly to his phone, which is something I think is very respectable for an owner to do. Maureen, the CRSO, is the woman that handles any and all membership issues, range rules, complaints, .etc, and she has always been very good with responding very quickly whenever I need anything. THE NOT SO GOOD: -RSOs: they have a lot of RSOs and they aren't all always aprised of current range rules or what is and isn't allowed, such as shooting PCCs at steel in the private bays. Always check with the CRSO if you're unsure. By and large they're very polite and respectful, but not universally knowledgable. -Busy Weekends: Saturday and Sunday usually has competitions running every weekend, which makes getting a good private bay nearly impossible unless you arrive an hour before they open. If you arrive too late, you will either get a tiny 15 yrd bay or be forced to wait until something opens up. Same with the rifle bar as there is not many spaces open for individuals to set up. Good problem for the business, just a problem for me and the average member. TLDR, besides minor incidents with the odd RSO and me not being able to get a bay on consistently busy days, my experience here has been completely positive, and that's due in no small part to Gorka and Maureen. I would recommend this gun club to any enthusiest in the area.

Great range with a lot to offer! Rifle range, large bays, small bays, steel shooting, etc. Also, both the defense classes offered by Herfel at Valortec and the competition focused classes offered by Gorka are top tier. Highly recommend.

I've been to various gun ranges and most of them don't allow rapid fire. At Volusia County Gun Club, they have steel targets and shooting fast is allowed. If you really want to improve your shooting skills, this gun club is your place. They also have various top notch instructors that can help you become a better shooter, so that you can protect yourself and your loved ones. Blessings, Johnny S.

Herfel/Valortec, their training was challenging and outstanding. Great instructors with tons of experience/knowledge. I learned a lot and had fun despite my inexperience with sidearms. I will definitely be attending another class soon. Without a doubt Valortec offers the best training and value for anyone who wants to really learn. I am extremely satisfied and grateful for the opportunity. To the instructors, thank you for your guidance and patience. You guys rock and Herfel is truly a master of his trade.

Had a great time on Open Range Day. Staff were great, cost very good, especially compared to ranges that charge the same amount, $25, for an hour. Here you can shoot all day for that. Highly recommended!

Herfel and his team are truly the elite in self-defense pistol training. Having taken many similar courses over the years with several different instructors and organizations, I can say hands down I learned more in one day on improving accuracy and self-protection than ever before. Not only is the training the best, but Herfel is an extremely engaging individual who creates an atmosphere conducive to learning while having fun. His team of instructors are excellent and offer individualized attention to each student throughout the day. I most HIGHLY recommend taking one of Herfel's courses.

Pistol Self-Defense Fundamentals class review Excellent class. Real world instructions. Class starts with a review of basic firearm safety and handling then moves to a discussion and explanation of firearm physics (how and why a firearm reacts to a bullet being fired). Class then moves to specific instructions on stance, grip and sight alignment. They incorporate dry fire practice prior to live fire exercises. Live fire drills go from static single target to multiple target then to real world ΓÇ£threatΓÇ¥ situations that include moving while firing. This is an excellent class for beginners and experienced shooters alike. The instructors are very knowledgeable and make the class comfortable for everyone regardless of experience level. I highly recommend the class.
