I cannot speak highly enough of Mr. Sanderford and the VX team. The training, guidance, and grit that I have been a part of at VX is something that I would recommended to anyone looking to grow their training and mindset. VX provides more than just tactical and fundamental training. They focus on mindset, which to me, this was the most valuable part of the training process at VX.

IΓÇÖm a Marine pilot and now director at large corporation. This training is better than what I got in the fleet Marine Corps. If you like to train like I do then start here. Yes itΓÇÖs hard, that means youΓÇÖre improving. So come get some, you will not regret it!

5 stars doesn't do VX Marksmanship justice - and if you are lucky enough to be even remotely within driving distance, you owe it to yourself to take advantage of the training offered here. It is a unique opportunity that anyone hungry for world class firearm instruction should take advantage of. Whether you are starting as a rookie or a seasoned professional, VX focuses on building your mindset, maturity, grit, and weapon handling capabilities that you must have to prepare for what you're training for -- a gunfight - if you need to defend yourself, your family, or others in a life or death situation. Taking courses as a prospect to build rock solid fundamentals is excellent and where I started as a novice. If you perform, demonstrate grit, professionalism, and the ability to develop your learning curve and are offered the opportunity for membership and train under Dan Sanderford's leadership, you will have a truly unique experience you won't find anywhere else. Training under Dan as a member has allowed me to rapidly improve my ability to remain calm under stress, accelerate my information processing ability, improve my situational awareness, and build the fundamentals needed to interoperate across all weapons platforms (pistol, carbine, precision rifle) in extremely dynamic environments. You won't find this anywhere else. Training at VX Marksmanship with Dan brings with it significant accountability. Much is given and much is expected. The high standards, consummate professionalism, having a learner's mindset (you have never arrived) has improved my abilities beyond my expectations. Being able to stay cool under stress, improving information processing, and having an intense focus on the 'why behind the what' of what you're doing has positively impacted me in multiple areas outside training both personally and professionally. Couldn't thank Dan and his team enough for the program they've built and allowed me to take advantage of.

I found VX Marksmanship while searching for a place to learn how to properly use a firearm. After reading the reviews it was evident that this was a great place to start my training. Day 1 into my 4 class tactical pistol class I knew I was in the right place. With a strong emphasis on mindset, fundamentals, continuous learning and feedback the coaches/instructors are always pushing you to learn through understanding. The environment is challenging but very conducive to learning. I've learned so much in the few classes I've been through so far. Things I've never even considered thinking of. I'm looking forward to continuing to push my comfort zone and learn a lot more in pistol, carbine and precision rifle. Grateful for the opportunity! Highly recommended!!

This is THE premier firearms training facility in the country. They develop Marksmanship through the development of ΓÇ£Conceptual Shooters.ΓÇ¥ This mindset philosophy is unique to special operations personnel. It is not the ΓÇ£muscle memoryΓÇ¥ trap that the majority of shooters fall into. Here, you will be trained by special operations veterans how to ΓÇ£Survive the Chaos,ΓÇ¥ of an active shooter scenario, home invasion, self defense, and much, much more. The interweaving of battle tested techniques, but most importantly, proper mindset, is how professional Special Operators succeed in an ever changing and dynamic battlefield. At VX Marksmanship, all these techniques and mindset principles will be taught to you. This is not a ΓÇ£sign up and your inΓÇ¥ type of program however. They are a Private Firearms Academy, technically. Not everyone that is an initial ΓÇ£prospect,ΓÇ¥ will be approved to continue training. This program is not for everyone, just as special operations isnΓÇÖt for every service member. If you pass the background check and get approved for ΓÇ£prospectΓÇ¥ status, it is on you to prove to the instructors you are worthy of the responsibility of becoming a VX Marksmanship Member. I will forever be in debt to the Patriots that are the VX Marksmanship team.

Some of the most meaningful training I have done. Ever. The focus on "mindset" goes well beyond the range into all aspects of life. Awareness, sense of purpose, discipline and accountability are all sharpened, buffed and polished here.

This place is awesome... The amount of knowledge you can obtain here is off the charts. If you're looking for a bunch of joking around it's probably not the place for you. But if you're really serious about it there probably isn't a better place to learn. You will definitely learn the discipline, mindset and skills needed to perform nearly any task firearm related if you apply yourself. The coolest part about it is that the mindset you learn in these courses can also be applied in you daily life as well. Don't be afraid to challenge yourself.

I have recently started training at VX Marksmanship. I have taken 3 carbine classes, 3 pistol classes, and a precision rifle class. Dan and his staff are extremely professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. The program focuses on the mindset necessary to become a top tier shooter, and practices the techniques that Dan has learned and honed over a very long career. He only focused on what works in the real world and these classes gave me the ability and confidence to survive real world encounters. Marksmanship was stressed heavily at all times and Dan was constantly pushing the other students and I to perform at the top of our game. There were a wide variety of shooting experience levels in the beginner classes and he was able to teach to all levels, in a way that kept the more experienced shooters challenged without losing the less experienced ones. The shooting skills that they were teaching were applicable in any survival situation. The experience that Dan and the staff have, and the skills that they pass on to students, is better than anywhere else I have been. The staff were very flexible to my schedule and the needs that I had in my goal to become a top tier shooter.

I have been actively training at VX for the past 12 months with a focus on both Carbine and Pistol. Dan and his staff set the standard for professionalism. They treat all of their students with respect and fairness - whether you are an experienced shooter with military background or a civilian who is just beginning. VX is all about mindset and learnings on the range have carry over to every day life. It is a privilege to be able to train at VX Marksmanship. ΓÇ£Respect defeats ego.ΓÇ¥

I just completed a 2-day Precision Rifle course with Dan and couldnΓÇÖt be happier with the results and couldnΓÇÖt more highly recommend Dan and VX Marksmanship. We started with classroom instruction where the fundamentals of precision shooting were taught then followed-up with outstanding range instruction. As a former infantry guy (20-years ago), I can say that DanΓÇÖs background as a USMC Scout Sniper instructor were impressive and he did not disappoint. Dan is tough but fair and holds his students to very high standards, and by the end of the course I and the other students were consistently hitting targets out to 500 yards (if I held up my end of the log with proper dope and attention to fundamental details). I will be looking for much more instruction from VX Marksmanship and will be looking to Dan to not only take my precision rifle shooting to the next level(s) but my pistol and carbine as well.

I highly recommend VX to anyone that is looking to learn how to handle a firearm with calm confidence. The trainers at VX push you, but they are focused on teaching you based on where you are at, and ensuring you know what you are doing as you continue to progress. VX emphasizes mindset and marksmanship and the trainers thoroughly teach you how to handle your firearm under various scenarios. Learning the fundamentals, and then building onto those fundamentals with each additional lesson, you gain confidence as you continue to grow. The trainers at VX are patient and firm… they show respect for the reality of the situation and maintain professionalism and discipline in all they do and teach you to do.

My wife and I took our LTC (License To Carry) test at VX after taking a few classes with VX trainers and ΓÇ£WOW!ΓÇ¥ that test was a breeze. If you are thinking of getting your LTC/CHL I highly recommend taking a few courses with VX before taking the test. My wife and I took our test at VX which was great because they taught the LTC curriculum with the VX mindset and principles. After just taking a few courses with the VX instructors, they exceeded my expectations by taking me out of the ΓÇ£lane mentalityΓÇ¥ and showing me how to deal with multiple threats coming from different angles while IΓÇÖm on the move. My wife and I already feel confident and comfortable carrying our firearm. VX instructors are highly qualified and also work with military special ops, secret service, police officers and civilians like myself. This gives me comfort knowing that IΓÇÖm getting the best training possible. IΓÇÖm truly grateful that VX doesnΓÇÖt just offer their services to just anyone, but they are selective of their clientele. I love the focus VX instructors have on Mindset, Marksmanship and learning because those lessons apply to other areas of my life.

I was very particular in what I was seeking in terms of training. I wanted to be able to take classes to where I would be able to take home lessons learned and practice in a ΓÇ£Dry FireΓÇ¥ manner; put in practice time before the next class. I wanted to train in a dynamic atmosphere, I wanted to be pushed to my potential, and I wanted to be held accountable. I was seeking training to be a more responsible licensed carrier. I also wanted to pursue a different form of Martial Arts. I found all these things and more with VX. I have been attending Classes and Events since the beginning of 2016. Dan Sanderford is the Chief Instructor and Owner. He brings real-world experience from both the theater of combat at an elite level and Olympic style competition. Dan puts a high emphasis on fundamentals, focus, and mindset. Great training facility and soild program! Cesar G

My son, daughter, and I have been working our way through the rigorous training at VX for the past 16 months. The training reaches far beyond improving our firearm skills. The three of us have experienced dramatic improvements with our communication, cognitive processing, daily attitude, and shooting ability. The instruction is clear, concise, and presented in a professional manner. Mindset is a word used often at VX. I believe it to be the foundation of the VX training. The three of us strive to implement a strong and concise mindset throughout our daily routine. It's often a challenge, and success has not outnumbered failure. We utilize our training daily, learn from our mistakes, and improve. Thank you VX for the tremendous value you have added to each of our lives. We can't wait to impress you and celebrate our success that you will help us achieve.

CONCERNING REVIEW BY WILLIAM DEWEY HOCKEMEYER... AKA - William H. I'd like to provide some actual facts in order to shine some truth on this review. First of all, if you're going to put this much effort into a review, one would think that someone at the senior executive level in business would want everyone to know his true identity, William Dewey Hockemeyer instead of hiding behind the sock puppet of "Bill Smith" in the review written on Facebook. At least here, there is no choice. If you have to resort to lying about your identity, anyone reading the review automatically questions the integrity of the author as well as the level of credibility of what is written. That being said, courses at VX Marksmanship are not cheap. But, for the level of professional instruction and training, the courses are absolutely in line with competitive rates from a cost standpoint. And, for the money, you won't find a more comprehensive and real-world oriented curriculum anywhere. I currently train with VX Marksmanship in all three weapons disciplines and specifically under Dan for eight of the ten courses I've completed. Dan is a consummate professional at the instructor level. Dan's experience within MARSOC as a Force Recon Marine, Force Recon Marine Sniper and Force Recon Marine Sniper Instructor has provided him with the very unique skill set to bring the vision that is VX Marksmanship to actual fruition. When taking courses taught by Dan, his experience and unique, fundamentals based curriculum allow him the innate ability to see the actions of the student(s) before they actually execute them. This ability is centered around the Force Recon Mindset and allows Dan to immediately address performance and mindset issues on the fly without having to halt instruction of the entire course. This ability is a positive aspect of Dan's personal instruction methods allowing for more learning to occur throughout the course timeframe. In the time I trained under Dan, (individually and in multi student courses) I have never experienced "harsh" criticism or any kind of "humiliation". Yes, there are stresses induced (mental and very moderate physical), and are intended to heighten the learned skills and mindset of the students. Dan trains "thinkers" not "robots". Whether civilian or military/law enforcement, when the situation arrises and you have to resort to using your weapon, survival is your priority and your mindset in that situation will be the determining factor to that end. As far as any confusion as to "courses" and "levels" within disciplines, the curriculum is explained in detail by Dan prior to beginning any courses within the disciplines. Any confusion on this issue, in my opinion, is based on a lack of mindset during the briefing. After almost a year of interaction with Dan, I don't in any way believe that asking a simple clarification question, you were told you "disrespected" VX Marksmanship. Based on the method that you chose to post this review under guise of an alias, there is more than likely much more that you have conveniently left out of the post that led to the revocation of the membership invitation. There are no issues with the instruction, marketing and/or financial techniques at VX. And, as for the confusion over "courses" and "levels", for someone claiming to be at the senior executive level in the Financial arena, that's a pretty gross oversight.

My thoughts on William H's review. As I celebrated the 4th yesterday with family and friends I reflected on what we really have by living in the land of the free and the home of the brave. Freedom is a privilege and a responsibility we all need to own and carry forward. With freedom comes the ability to express your opinion as many have done here, it even gives you the right to express a negative opinion as William H. recently did. The beauty is, freedom also gives me the right to disagree and gives each one of you the right to form your own opinion, I encourage you to do so. My experience with VX has been nothing short of amazing for several reasons I will try to highlight below. As a client for over a year I have had the privilege to participate in over 30 classes, special events or competitions. Throughout these events I have learned, grown, been pushed and pushed myself. I have also been frustrated, humbled, exhausted and made countless mistakes. The best part was I had a VX coach there to guide me and ensure all those experiences grew me as a shooter and grew my mindset. As I reach the mid level in my training on Pistol and PR, a level where the client below seemed to be reaching, I can tell you the training is getting more intense. VX was clear from the start that the standards are the standards and they will change for no man, woman or child regardless of your age or any other factor. Let's be honest the bad guys won't give you a break to catch your breath. I am not as young as I once was so I expect there will be a level I either can't attain or will have to really increase my fitness level to attain. That is the reality!! VX is not a place that hands out medals or accolades for participation. You have to earn each level by demonstrating your abilities in a consistent manner. In a world that likes accountability less and less this is a challenge for some. But don't confuse being hard on the standard with being hard on a person. I don't know the story behind the negative review below. However, I can say that I have never had a VX instructor correct me for anything I did not need correcting or in a way that was inappropriate for the level of training being conducted. Like I said the higher the level the higher the intensity on everything. Why? Because that is what you are paying for, if you could coach yourself and push yourself you would not need to join. Don't just take my word for it. Exercise your personal freedom and check out VX for yourself. I trust them with my family and with my friends I have recommended. Take the time to form your own opinion you won't regret it.

Over the last several years, I have trained at VX Marksmanship in pistol, carbine, and precision rifle. This tactical training was everything I expected and much more. Thanks to the professional instructors at VX, I have experienced substantial growth as a marksman, family man, and leader. The instructors at VX Marksmanship, thanks to Dan Sanderford (chief instructor/owner), instill a sense of pride and create an atmosphere where oneΓÇÖs will to perform or achieve ΓÇ£greater than beforeΓÇ¥ comes to the surface in all things! Under the leadership of Dan and Charles, expect to be taken to your limits, both physically and mentally. DanΓÇÖs unwavering commitment to keep one in ΓÇ£the fightΓÇ¥ as long as possible demands this style of training. DonΓÇÖt expect to be coddled; this is tactical training! Dan and Charles are no-nonsense instructors with real world experience. They will require one to act professionally and with integrity. Expect the same in return. Over this past weekend, I participated in the MS 150 cycling event here in North Texas. If you donΓÇÖt know that is, itΓÇÖs a 2-day event covering approximately 150 miles from Frisco to Fort Worth benefiting multiple sclerosis. ItΓÇÖs a tremendous challenge, both physically and mentally, to ride a bike that far and that long. When youΓÇÖre exhausted at mile 130, 140, or even 150 and riding up a huge hill that seems will never end, it was your mindset classes that helped keep pushing me (and IΓÇÖm sure all the push ups and running helped too! Haha). While this event was not firearm related, the mindset classes I attended over the last few months helped me tremendously and I just wanted to say thank you! The service you guys offer is definitely not like any other IΓÇÖve seen and it is appreciated! Keep up the good work!

When I found VX, I had no prior rifle experience. Literally never fired a rifle heavier than a .22. Contacted VX about precision rifle and liked what I heard. I've been training for about 10 months as I write this, and I've come to realize what a gem I stumbled across by starting with VX when I was a complete newbie seeking a school. In particular, I've had the opportunity to observe several other facilities precision rifle courses and therefore to see the much higher quality of training I'm receiving at VX. I've learned fundamentals that make me crave more training and more experience. I've learned advanced techniques through a variety of experiences at VX. I've participated in training, practice, and friendly competitions that expand my knowledge and skill. I've even been to a few of the gatherings out at VX, where a bonfire and a beer (AFTER the shooting is done for the day) become the program. These folks are serious. They hold themselves and their students to a higher standard than I've seen anywhere else. At the same time, they adapt to my 58 year old office-job fitness level, along with clients (students) older, younger, fitter, and fatter than me! They do an outstanding job of pushing each person to achieve their capabilities, without over-pushing. In case you can't tell: Yes, I'd recommend VX for your firearms training needs. Danal

Regarding VX Marksmanship, there is no facility I am aware of where you can gain this dynamic and intense level of training as a civilian. My level of confidence in protecting my family, my home, and myself has improved dramatically since I have acquired amazingly unique skills from the VX Marksmanship team. One way to think about it is: I may not be the most proficient shooter in the world, but after my training at VX, I feel comfortable in saying I am now better than 99.9% of the perps that would be attempting to break into my home, car jack me, or other similar day to day possibilities. Our society is changing and it is incumbent upon us to stay ahead and ready ourselves for the changes. The instructors are the real deal, and then some. They hold themselves to a higher standard and they expect you to do the same of yourself ΓÇô I respect and appreciate that. The entire mission statement, facility, and staff scream of professionalism, dedication, intense training, and no-nonsense education. It is not for everyone, but it was the right thing for me at the right time. You will surprise yourself on what you accomplish that you thought you never could. Thanks VX Marksmanship from my entire family!

Truly a distinguished experience led by true professionals. The personal 1:1 coaching and instruction has helped me progress rapidly over the 4 months I've been training out at VX. VX Marksmanship is a brand based on values and core principles that allows members to advance in their training and also become connected to a community with many others who are like minded. No matter what your personal goals are, when you come to VX to train you walk alway with much more than that. Truth of the matter is that once people start they very rarely leave.

You won't know how much you need to know about handling and carrying a firearm until you train at VX Marksmanship. After more than 100 hours of shooting range practice and a few day or weekend courses at other facilities, as well as getting my CHL, I thought I knew a lot about carrying and using a gun. Still, I felt uncomfortable. Luckily, I found VX Marksmanship last year and the instructors there have taken my skills and confidence to a new level with their emphasis on muscle memory and fundamentals, and their multi-level course curriculum. I still have a long way to go, but I know I am in the right place to learn the right way and the safe way.
